Situated on a side street in a picturesque Cornish fishing village, this traditional stone cottage oozes romantic charm. Guests will instantly fall in love with this pretty Grade II listed property which has been lovingly restored to maintain many of its original features. The decor has been kept simple, with light, neutral walls and ceilings, which beautifully compliment the impressive wooden floors, original cupboards and vintage pieces that fill the cottage.
Stepping over the stone threshold and immediately into the cosy kitchen, the eye is drawn to the decorative range oven that stands impressively against the original chequered floor tiles. Classic modern kitchen cupboards and appliances make meal preparation a truly 21st century experience with all the conveniences needed for hassle-free cooking, from an oven with a halogen hob to the iconic free-standing SMEG fridge freezer. A vintage pine table sits against a large sash window which lets in plenty of natural light. While the handy window seat makes a great spot to enjoy breakfast while watching the world go by, although this may just be a neighbourhood cat taking a morning stroll along this quiet street.
From the kitchen head through to the living room, where a velvet sofa, curtains and cushions fill the room with luxurious warmth. With a wood burning fire and thick rug on the original floorboards, this is a room made for curling up with a loved one, sipping wine and watching the flicker of the dancing flames.
Upstairs, and guests will love the master bedroom, a cast iron bed is made up with quality linens, velvet throws and William Morris scatter cushions. A large sash window, with a window seat, has magnificent views across the rooftops of Mousehole and across the sea to the horizon. Guests can enjoy the views from the comfort of the bed, so brew a coffee, pull open the windows and enjoy a well-deserved lie-in with sea air filling your lungs and the sounds of the gulls in the air. The large bathroom is light and bright with panelled walls, a roll top bath and rainfall shower.
Mousehole offers everything for visitors to enjoy without ever leaving the village. Sea dippers will love to take a swim off the beach, hikers can enjoy many coastal walks from the door of the cottage or relive childhood holidays by dangling crab lines off the harbour wall. And, when it's time for dinner, Mousehole has lovely pubs and restaurants where guests can enjoy the catch of the day. Enjoy views from the harbour at The Ship Inn or head to 2 Fore Street restaurant for seasonal, locally sourced meals.
