Surrounded by nature, with wonderful views over some charming woodland this gorgeous curved treehouse is ideal for a couple wanting a relaxing Cornish holiday. 'Kalmynsi' is the Cornish word for 'calm' and nothing could be more accurate in the description. This hand-built cedar haven is rooted in the earth as though it grew there and is hidden from view amongst ash, beech and oak trees. It even has its own log-burner and pizza oven tucked inside.
Then interior arcs gently from one end to the other and is inspired by Scandinavian living spaces. It's super cosy with a Graham and Green two seater sofa and armchair and a Big Bertha Beanbag where you can cosy up in front of the Ekol log burner with a glass of red and a good book. Or why not take advantage of the board games provided whilst listening to music on the vintage record player? Complete relaxation is a given!
There’s an open-plan sleek kitchen fitted with a black Neff induction hob and a combi oven for you to cook up a romantic feast and the Ekol log burner also doubles as an integrated oven and hot plate to cook on. Logs, matches and kindling are provided. There's a Smart TV with super fast broadband and WiFi too if you want to watch a film or share some pictures of your retreat on Instagram.
When it's time to sleep there's a separate double bedroom at the end of the treehouse with a comfy bed made up with naturally soft linen sheets from the Chalk and Pink Linen Company. In the morning you'll wake up with the birds before sitting out on your own private balcony where you can enjoy that all important first cup of coffee before heading to the separate shower room and its rainforest shower. Complimentary organic toiletries by local Trevarno Skin Care will complete the morning ritual before you wrap yourself in a toasty towel from the heated rail.
Set 30 metres apart from the other treehouse (Skapya) on a gentle hillside bordered by a three-acre field, there's a partially sunken outdoor lounging area reserved just for you. Light the firepit, take a soak in the hot tub, pour a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the distant hills as owls call in from the ancient bluebell woodland nearby.
There's no difficult terrain to get to your private idyll, just park in the private off road car park and follow the gravel path 30 metres to the door. A short elevated wooden walkway takes you up to Kalmynsi’s small porch with a Tilley Lamp lantern, welly store and glass-fronted door.
When it's time to explore you'll find plenty of places to eat and drink in Gweek itself and further afield in Helston, Falmouth and Porthleven. From traditional pubs to modern veggie and vegan eateries there's something for everyone. The owners recommend the Black Swan Pub in Gweek which serves traditional fare and local ales and is only a ten minute walk from your treehouse. In Gweek boatyard you'll find the Boatyard Cafe which is excellent for a light lunch by the water. And if you fancy some delicious wood fired pizza get yourself to the Paddle and Basil on Friday evenings. It's a fab camper van on the village green. On Wednesday evenings you can enjoy some really good fish n chips from Sid's blue mobile van, also on the green.
There are also plenty of coves and beaches to enjoy with various activities on offer from scuba diving to wild swimming. Try Gunwalloe Beach (which is dog friendly), Poldhu Cove and Kynance Cove to get you started. All are with 15 to 25 minutes drive.
