Tiger's Tree House is a labour of love embarked upon during lockdown. The result is a beautiful, cleverly designed cabin lifted up on stilts to give guests a wonderful escape in the trees. The cabin would be a perfect respite for couples seeking peace and tranquility surrounded by nature.
The cabin has a real tree house feel to it with cedar-clad walls and lots of natural elements to the interior, but it also manages to be luxurious and eco-friendly, with modern amenities and a great many thoughtful touches which create a comfortable, indulgent hideaway.
Set in three-and-a-half acres of private woodland just on the edge of Dartmoor, it's a perfect spot for nature lovers, people who like a good ramble and those who are happy to sit with a drink and just stare at natural beauty.
Steps lead up to the decking which overlooks the valley. You'll want to drop your bags, make a cuppa and sit down for a well deserved break with nothing but the sound of the trees moving gently in the breeze.
The inside of the cabin reflects the surroundings with warm cedar-clad walls and plenty of windows bringing in the light and views of the surrounding trees. There's a comfy sofa facing the deck and a wood burner in the corner for extra cosy nights, tucked up with a good book or a glass of wine.
Cooks will love the compact and fully equipped kitchen made of solid oak. It's charmingly designed with a rich river worktop, copper splash back and a butler's sink. There's a perfect wooden table for two where you can eat, play cards and chat into the night.
The far end of the room is home to a huge hand-carved super-king size bed with a fabulous skylight where you can doze off to sleep beneath the twinkling stars.
In the morning you'll enjoy the excellent bathroom which is home to a roomy rainfall shower with a view! A stylish basalt wash basin set on top of varnished ash gives that nature inside vibe again but there's heated towel rails to compound that luxurious feel too.
When you want to head out and explore you'll find a valley path sign posted from the bottom of the cabin steps. The path will take you on a very pretty walk through the woods by a stream.
For food shopping the nearest is in Lifton, four miles away, and you might like to visit Strawberry Fields, an award-winning farm shop and cafe. Further down the road is Tavistock, bigger and home to plenty of shops and cafes.
It's worth going a little further afield by car to make the most of this area. Forty minutes to the west will bring you to the Atlantic Ocean with its wonderful coastline and seaside towns like Bude (a surfers' heaven) and the village of Boscastle – home to a very curious museum of witchcraft and magic and The Rocket Store fish restaurant! For more great food you have plenty to choose from including The Arundell Arms in Lifton, The Secret Stable, an open air, wood fired pizza restaurant (walkable from the cabin) and The Castle, a 16th century pub situated in Lydford.
