A unique and quirky cottage full of warmth and charm, you'll find this little gem located in the village of Veryan on Cornwall's south coast.
The Round House is a Grade II listed property built in 1820, said to have been built in the round so that 'the devil couldn't hide'. Filled with character, it makes the perfect spot for a romantic getaway just for two (and the dog). With its quaint round shape and pretty cottage garden, you'll feel like you've stepped into the pages of a storybook.
Inside you'll find the Round House cosy and well-equipped. Downstairs is the snug circular sitting room with its wooden floors and generous sized sofa, just right for putting your feet up at the end of a busy day and watching a film on the smart TV. The kitchen/diner is kitted out with everything you need for a self-catering stay, including a Smeg fridge, oven and hob, washing machine, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee maker. Also on the ground floor is the shower room and WC.
Head upstairs and under the vaulted eaves of the cottage is the lovely bedroom with its arched windows and luxurious super kingsize bed. There's a TV, ideal for lazy mornings in bed with a cup of tea, plus a good choice of pillows and beddings, so you can have a deep and restful night's sleep. The bedroom also comes with its own ensuite.
Step outside into the garden and you'll find the perfect spot to drink your morning coffee in the sunshine. There's a table and chairs so you can also enjoy lunch or dinner al fresco on warm days, or sip a glass of something chilled as the sun goes down.
Beyond the garden hedge is the little Cornish community of Veryan, one of Cornwall's loveliest villages, with its traditional cottages, church and inn. The village was once described as 'a mild tropic garden' by John Betjeman. It sits just over a mile from the sea, within Cornwall's beautiful Roseland Peninsula. A little quieter and more secluded than other Cornish spots, it's filled with peaceful beaches, hidden coves and tantalising glimpses of the sea between green wooded hills. The Round House is the ideal location from which to explore, within walking distance of the South West Coastal Path and the stunning, unspoilt beaches of Carne and Pendower.
