In the heart of the picturesque village of Castle Combe in rural Wiltshire is The Gates. This stunning holiday cottage blends comfort and luxury and is surrounded by rich history and the beautiful countryside beyond.
The cottage sleeps six guests across three bedrooms, with charming touches throughout. On the ground floor there is a large stone fireplace in the lounge, which now contains a modern log burning stove. With comfy sofas and a wall-mounted TV this is the perfect space to relax and unwind.
Elsewhere on this level is the expansive and fully equipped kitchen. It’s complete with a dishwasher, ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washing machine; as well as an oak dining table and chairs seating six people. The kitchen also overlooks a pretty churchyard through leaded windows.
Heading upstairs leads to the three bedrooms, with the master suite oozing character with original oak beams overhead and an amazing gothic window. It also has a king size iron bed and a freestanding bath to soak in. Elsewhere there is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and views of the churchyard, while there is also a further twin room. Also on the first floor is a separate bathroom with a walk-in shower with a drench showerhead.
The Gates is in the centre of Castle Combe and is perfectly placed for getting out and about and exploring the village and beyond. There are two pubs - The Castle Inn and The White Hart - as well as The Manor House, which is a five-star hotel with restaurant, spa, and golf course. Bybrook River runs through the village and there are lots of superb walks which start there.
Also close by is Castle Combe racing circuit which hosts racing meets throughout the year, while the historical market town of Chippenham is only five miles away. The city of Bath and its historical landmarks is just 12 miles away, while the buzzing city of Bristol is 20 miles away. So whether you want pretty country walks, quiet pubs, history, or a little more nightlife, then there is something on offer nearby.
