This pretty stone house is set on a farm in north Somerset in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s named after its private walled garden which becomes an extension of the living space in the warmer months with the French doors to the sitting room thrown open and a BBQ on the go. Surrounded by bluebell woodlands and the Mendip Hills, it’s the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle and relax with friends and family. You’ll also have access to a heated indoor pool, a therapy room for spa treatments and a cinema room, meaning there’s plenty to do without even stepping foot off the farm.
Step inside The Garden House and you’ll find yourself in a large open plan living area with high vaulted ceilings and two sets of French doors out onto the garden, helping it feel bright and airy. At one end of the space, you’ll find comfy sofas and armchairs gathered around an open fire with a good supply of logs. This is a cosy spot for post-dinner board games or just snuggling up in front of a film in the evenings. There’s a dining table in the centre of the room which can be extended to seat 12 and the kitchen at the other end is well equipped for rustling up dinner for everyone or for preparing food for a BBQ outside.
Three of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor and can all be set up with super-king size beds or with two singles. The main bedroom has another two sets of doors that lead out onto the garden and its own wetroom. There’s an ensuite room and the third bedroom has a lovely large window overlooking the garden and access to a bathroom with a roll top bath. The fourth bedroom is upstairs with 3ft twin beds and a stable door making it a great hideaway for the kids.
You’ll be able to book yourselves in for private sessions at the indoor heated pool, a great way to wake up in the morning or for a leisurely dip after a long walk in the Mendips. Head upstairs to the therapy room and choose from a wide range of treatments, such as massages, reiki and aromatherapy. In the evening, settle down in front of a good film in the cinema room before heading back to The Garden House for dinner.
There’s plenty to do in the area, whether you prefer striding out into the countryside or exploring pretty towns and cities. Pack your walking boots and head out into the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with circular walks right from your front door. Enjoy a gentle stroll to one of the local pubs for lunch or tackle part of the West Mendip Way which will take you to the beautiful cathedral city of Wells. Longleat Safari Park, Cheddar Caves and Wookey Hole are all within a 35-minute drive and are great days out with the kids, or you might prefer to head up to Bath. Explore the city with its iconic architecture and fascinating Roman history before a relaxing session at the Thermae Bath Spa with stunning views from the rooftop pool.
