The detail

The Arle Hut is a fabulous couple’s retreat nestled in the peaceful Hampshire countryside close to the edge of the marvellous South Downs National Park. Tucked away on a quiet farm close to the charming town of Alresford, this interior-designed shepherd’s hut sits near the banks of a calming chalk stream river.

As you arrive you’ll be delighted by the peaceful, tranquil setting in a grassy clearing by the water’s edge. Stepping inside, you’ll find a cosy living space with a king size bed at one end, a quaint kitchenette in the middle and an ensuite bathroom at the other end.

The super-comfy bed, with its pocket sprung mattress, sits in its own little section of the cabin through an archway, and can be separated from the living area with a blackout curtain. There’s also a quaint picture window so you can enjoy the view in the morning as you take your first coffee of the day in bed.

When it comes to preparing breakfast, you’ll love the nicely equipped sage green kitchen, which has a hob, a toaster and a fridge, so you can whip up some eggs with ease! Enjoy your brekkie at the bar-style dining space located beneath a window that offers lovely river views, or take your food outside and dine alfresco in the fresh country air.

Staying outside, the hut sits in a peaceful slice of countryside with the river flowing by. You can relax lounging on the grass in the sunshine or sit on the chairs with a coffee as you plot the day’s adventures. Come night time, there’s also a firepit so you can stay toasty and warm as you gaze up at the starry sky! There’s also a grill for the firepit, just in case you want to indulge in some alfresco cooking.

Back inside, there is also a Hadeda chair where you can relax and take in the river view whilst tucking into a good book. And at the far end of the hut there’s also an ensuite bathroom with a loo, a powerful hot shower and a wash basin. Egyptian cotton bedding and Matilda Goad towels will be provided for your stay, alongside organic soaps, shampoo and conditioner.

The owners will provide you with some fresh eggs from the farm for your first night, along with English butter, milk, locally made granola and fresh Moonroast coffee. Louis Pommery English sparkling wine can also be provided and arranged separately, with the owners even being able to arrange a vineyard tour for you and your loved one.

When it comes to filling your day you have plenty to see and do in the area. Wander the banks of the chalk stream river and it will take you to the charming town of Alresford. Here you can explore this handsome Georgian town with many colour-washed houses, riverside walks and specialist shops to enjoy. Alresford is also home to a surprising number of wonderful eateries, meaning you can choose from a fab selection of old-fashioned pubs, smart bistros and traditional tea rooms.

Nature lovers will also want to explore the nearby South Downs National Park, which offers a range of fantastic walking routes through spectacular scenery.
