Featuring views of the ancient Stansted Forest and the King Henry VIII hunting ground, this comfy lodge is immersed in nature. Housing a king-sized bed, Deer Lodge is the perfect romantic retreat, with the bathroom’s luxury rainfall shower promising a peaceful morning soak. With opportunities for relaxation at every corner, including a double-ended outdoor bath, an indoor log-burner and an outdoor firepit, Deer Lodge offers an unmissable experience.
With the hot water supplied by the solar panels on the neighbouring barn, guests can appreciate the comforts of modern living, and the bathroom further features a flushing toilet and a basin for a modern bathing experience. The living space is equally impressive, featuring seating for four alongside a wood-burner for cosy nights by the fire. Conveniently, the seating can be converted into a single bed at night-time to allow for one extra guest, and the space looks out onto the valley, historically used as a vineyard. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything necessary to cook a hearty evening meal, including an electric induction hob, a fridge with an icebox, a combination microwave oven, a kettle, and a butler’s sink. To take the pressure off, a selection of home-cooked meals can be ordered by guests in advance. Outside, the magic continues: the double-ended freestanding bath offers up an opulent soak under the stars, offering a choice between views of the woodland or a screen for added privacy. Further housing a fire pit and outdoor seating, there’s plenty of opportunity for enjoying a tipple or roasting a marshmallow beside the flames.
An area of immense natural beauty, Deer Lodge is immersed in the depths of the Southdowns National Park. Minutes from Deer Lodge lies the historic woodland of Stansted Forest, featuring the hunting ground perused by King Henry VIII, apt for an afternoon stroll. Further afield, the quaint village of Amberley hosts the impressive Amberley Castle, perfect for fairytale adventures, with the Amberley Tea Room hosting an impressive selection of locally baked scones and homemade treats alike. If it’s cobbled streets you’re after, a visit to Petworth, just Southwest of Billinghurst, is imperative. Featuring an array of independent boutiques and antique stores, it’s quintessentially Southdowns. Enjoy a pub lunch at The Stonemasons Inn or The Star before ambling on over to Petworth House, a historic estate housing an abundance of impressive staircases and green space to amble around.
