The Deer Hide at Meon Valley Shepherd Huts is your perfect rustic shepherd’s hut in the rolling chalk hills of Hampshire’s beautiful South Downs National Park. Nestled among mature trees and charming countryside, it is the ideal spot to relax, recharge and escape the modern world. Recently handcrafted with luxury fittings, calming decor and all the essential home comforts, it has everything you need and nothing you don’t. The Deer Hide sits on the outskirts of Southampton and is easily accessible from London, Portsmouth, the Midlands and the West Country.

As you arrive at The Deer Hide, your shepherd’s hut contrasts against the green surroundings. Walk through your private outdoor space and note the gas BBQ, fire pit and outdoor seating for those warm evenings dining alfresco. Nestled among tranquil countryside, it’s the ideal spot to grab a blanket and sit back as the starry skies emerge.

Moving into the hut, you’re greeted by natural tones and calming hues that are perfect for a relaxing couple’s escape. At one end, your snug and comfy double bed is adorned with plush pillows and thick bedding to drift off under. When the morning comes around, the windows fill the cosy space with natural light while the birds in the trees sing the morning chorus. Refresh and recharge with a hot shower in your private indoor bathroom and get ready for the day ahead. The small yet fully-equipped kitchenette has everything you need to create a warming breakfast or a hearty evening meal on those chillier days.

The Deer Hide is the perfect base to explore Hampshire and West Sussex. Nearby, the towns of Bishop’s Waltham and Waltham Chase have everything you need for a short stay, while the bustling and historic cities of Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth are all easily accessible by car. Nature lovers are spoiled by the rolling hills of the South Downs or the ancient woodland of the New Forest National Park, while those who yearn for the seaside are minutes from the charming beaches of the Solent or the golden sands of West Wittering. Why not hop on a ferry for the day and explore the enchanting Isle of Wight?

What a wonderful pause from busy life. A comfortable kingsize bed and a lovely walk in shower. Janet & Matt had thought of everything and very welcoming. Stunning watching the sunset and rise. The deer made an appearance too.

We had an amazing time, it was so peaceful and being so close to the wildlife added to the experience. The facilities are great and we had everything we needed for our holiday. Matt and Janet were very welcoming and would definitely recommend. I will happily book another stay.

What a gem. Set in a really peaceful location. The outside area was lovely to sit out especially in the sunshine. Really spacious accommodation with a large comfortable bed and lovely bathroom with full sized shower. The hosts were great and recommended a local Italian restaurant with fabulous takeaway pizza which we enjoyed outside. We hope to go back.
