Bathe in glorious views of the Yorkshire Dales in your luxury, off-grid, converted church with space for eight people.
Wesleyan Chapel is your dream off-grid escape among the rolling hills and quaint villages of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. With space for up to eight guests across four bedrooms, in a large, open-plan converted church, it’s perfect for families and large groups that want to switch off, recharge and reconnect with nature. Sink into your hot tub with direct views of The Dales, spend your days exploring the network of footpaths and bridleways or visit the nearby historic Bolton Abbey on the banks of the River Wharfe.
As you enter through the original Lych-gate and approach Wesleyan Chapel, you can see the rolling hills beyond the imposing stone church with its Gothic windows and mature trees. Moving inside, the cavernous kitchen-living-dining area takes your breath away. Vaulted ceilings with wooden beams reach overhead while the huge windows bathe the modern kitchen and large dining table in natural light. A central chimney with a wood burner provides plenty of heat on cold nights, and the spacious seating area beyond is the perfect place to relax and reconnect with loved ones.
The modern kitchen has everything you'll need, whether you’re creating light lunches, warming breakfasts or evening feasts with the traditional Aga. In the mornings, the smell of fresh coffee fills the space. In the warmer months, why not take your breakfast or dinner down to the outside table and chairs for some alfresco dining? During those long summer evenings, light up the BBQ, pour a glass of something cold and sink into your hot tub that boasts stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and the River Wharfe valley.
As night draws to a close and it’s time to head to bed, head downstairs (yes, downstairs!) to one of the four ensuite bedrooms. There’s a super kingsize bed for the lucky ones in the master bedroom, a kingsize bed that can be converted into twins for the kids, and a further two double bedrooms. All are adorned with thick bedding and comfy sheets for a good night’s sleep. Make sure you choose one of the three ensuites with a bathtub if you want to soak away the stresses of the day.
Wesleyan Chapel is nestled on the Bolton Abbey estate that features the huge ruins of the 12th Century Bolton Priory, the ancient Strid Wood and ‘The Strid’, a deep and narrow point in the river, sometimes called ‘the most dangerous stretch of water in the world’. Picturesque and enchanting, make sure kids, dogs and adults are kept well away from the edge! The village of Bolton Abbey boasts cafes, pubs and a shop for the essentials, while the nearby towns of Skipton and Ilkley offer independent shops and restaurants. Further afield, the bustling city of Leeds is an hour or so away.
