Originally a chapel house adjoined onto the Chapel of St Paulinus, this six-bedroom delight now serves as the ultimate luxurious escape for groups of friends and family alike. The interior of this unique property has been meticulously and expertly designed by renowned modern art collector, Greville Worthington. The chapel features works of art from world-renowned names as well as artists that have shaped the modern art world over the years. Original features such as white stone pillars, magnificent arches, high ceilings, and stained-glass windows perfectly compliment the contemporary fixtures and modern artwork found throughout the house. Standout features include an enclosed decking area, sauna, hot tub, cocktail bar, and over 270-acres of private land to explore. So, remember to bring your walking shoes.
The house is entered via the hallway. From here, you will come into the nucleus of the property: the open-planned kitchen/diner and living room. The modern and airy island kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons and has a dining table for 12 - complete with repurposed seats from an old London bus. At the end of the room sits the lounge area, containing a luxurious corner sofa, oak coffee table, and roaring wood burner. This relaxing corner serves as the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside. Next to the kitchen sits the charming "cocktail room", where you can enjoy a quiet tipple in the evening. On from here is the striking “old school room”. This impressive space features stone pillars, a large 12-seater dining table, plenty of seating, and even a shimmering disco ball - should you fancy a boogie.
As the evening trickles into the early hours, take a walk through the splendid stone arches where you can relax on one of the sofas and curl up in front of the wood burner. For a more homely vibe, take a walk across the hall and into the sitting room. With its comfy corner couch, fireplace, and 65-inch flat screen TV, this is the perfect spot for a movie night.
There are six bedrooms in all: three on the first floor and three on the second. The first floor contains the master suite with a “his and hers” ensuite bathroom and free-standing bathtub, another housing a super king size bed which can also function as twins, and a third double room which boasts an additional ensuite bathroom. There is a shared shower room on the first floor also.
Ascend the spiral staircase to the second floor where you will find the final three double bedrooms, all of which can function as twin rooms. Each has been stylishly decorated, sit underneath gorgeous vaulted ceilings, and share a large bathroom complete with shower and two sinks. Outside, there is a large, enclosed decking area which houses the hot tub, sauna, changing rooms, outdoor shower, and wooden bench. There is also a BBQ, should you fancy getting the grill going. Beyond the house, guests will also have 270-acres of private estate land to explore.
While there is more than enough to keep you entertained on site, the local area is replete with things to see and do. The beautiful Yorkshire Dales are just on your doorstep, while the stunning market town of Richmond - once described as "the most romantic place in the whole of the Northeast" - is a short drive. Its historic architecture, 11th century castle, and cobbled streets all make this little gem must-see. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is also well worth a visit, with tours taking at least 3-4 hours.
