If you choose to visit The Water Tower, you'll feel like you're staying in a piece of stunning modern art, so beautifully has this once derelict water tower been converted. Sleeping up to eight in four bedrooms it would make an excellent getaway for couples holidaying together, friend groups or even a company retreat.
Spread over three floors, with an impressive spiral staircase leading you up, the tower has an elegant entrance hall at ground level where you can dispense with shoes and coats before making your way to the jaw-dropping first floor.
Entirely round with curved walls and floor-to-ceiling windows you'll be stunned by the glorious 360 degree panoramic views of the Yorkshire countryside. As the sun drenches the pale minimalist interior you'll feel as though nature is with you in this space.
The kitchen area is sleek, elegant and modern with a central island where you can cook or lounge on a stool with a glass of wine and chat whilst someone else prepares a delicious feast. A bespoke curved dining table sits perfectly with the view as a backdrop and comfortably seats 10 for celebratory meals and bustling breakfasts in the sunshine.
The living area on this floor is spacious with plenty of seating and a flatscreen TV suspended from the wall where you can gather together for a film or get cosy with a book. This is also an ideal spot for an afternoon nap with the refracted sunlight warming your face.
When it's time for bed you'll find three of the four bedrooms on the second floor. Two of these offer king size beds and one a generous double. All of the rooms are decorated in muted, soothing colours with luxurious high thread count cotton bedding, where you can laze with a morning coffee with nothing but the views for company. The fourth bedroom is further up on the third floor and is also a king size with more views to stun.
All of the rooms have their own ensuite facilities with extra large walk-in power showers where you can blast the sleep away before heading down for breakfast. The third floor also benefits from an additional lounge area with more comfy seating and a TV allowing everyone the space to unwind and relax in comfort.
The Water Tower stands high above the countryside in the semi-rural village of Flockton situated between Huddersfield and Wakefield. The area is renowned for its Yorkshire Sculpture Park where you'll find 500 acres of land devoted to Damien Hirst, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore sculptures, to name but a few. A proper walk around the grounds, including the lake, can take around two hours and there's a fantastic onsite gallery and cafe where you can enjoy a nice lunch and a coffee. Once home to Bretton Hall Arts College, this gorgeous old red brick house will soon be a second branch of the Groucho Club! If art is your thing you'll be delighted by the famous Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield too.
Keep things rural and enjoy the walks and farm shops such as Blacker Hill and Thorncliff where you can buy excellent produce and enjoy a meal, or for a more special occasion book at table at Three Acres Inn & Restaurant. If you're looking for a lively night out, Wakefield is a bustling town with plenty of bars, clubs and restaurants to enjoy. And at the end of the night you can head back to your tower in the sky.
