Walkwood Wagon offers an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hidden away in secluded bluebell woodland, this peaceful campsite is a welcome chance to unwind and get in touch with nature. A Swedish bath is waiting to be heated up outside and help you relax in serene comfort. Soak up the natural beauty of your surroundings, gorgeous National Trust woodlands, while you slow down the pace and wash away any stress.
This is the perfect opportunity to spend a little time completely off the grid. While the wagon is equipped with the modern conveniences of running water and a flushing toilet, you'll be largely without power. You'll be surprised how little you miss it as you'll have everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. A campfire or the wood-burner will take care of the cooking, as well as keeping you warm and toasty during the evenings.
The wagon itself blends in perfectly with its tranquil surroundings. The cosy interior is home to oak features and floral wallpaper which makes the wagon bright and welcoming. No need to worry about not having enough space either, with several clever solutions for storing your belongings while you’re visiting. The outdoor camp kitchen might be basic but it has everything you’ll need for anything from toasting marshmallows over the campfire to trying your hand at a bit of wood-burner cooking.
The wagon is ideally located for those who want to explore the many miles of woodland trails or hike across the South Downs National Park. Nearby, you’ll find the wonderfully preserved Bluebell Railway where you can hop on a steam train and enjoy a trip from the 19th century between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead. The railway is regularly used by filmmakers and you might recognise sets from TV series and films such as Downton Abbey or even Muppets Most Wanted. For a bit more sightseeing, visits to the nearby Glyndebourne and Charleston House make for an interesting day trip. You won't be short on places to eat either as there are plenty of great pubs in the surrounding towns and villages, such as The Griffin Inn in Fletching or The Peacock in Piltdown.

Leave a reviewAbsolutely beautiful surroundings - so peaceful and isolated, I wish we'd been able to stay for longer. The forest bath is quite an experience. Our host was very nice and welcoming as well.

We loved our stay at the Walkwood Wagon!! Sally was great throughout - Super quick at responding and really helpful. Despite it being October and freezing outside, we felt really cosy and comfy here and had the lovliest time :) It's a really special place - So secluded with beautiful trees and wildlife around. We saw some lovely butterflies, birds and deer :) The bath was wonderful and a total treat! Bed was super comfy :) Hoping to come back at some point :) xx

This was such a unique and beautiful find. Isolated in a wonderful woodland nook of East Sussex, it was exactly what we were looking for. Sally was a lovely and thoughtful host. The Wagon was idyllic - small but well thought out, comfortable and beautifully decorated - perfect for a nights stay. Lanterns and a fantastic fire pit lit our way through the night. Separate WC and sheltered kitchen and seating area really did make for a wonderful romantic setting - songs round the campfire in the middle of an autumn night - what could be better? Loved it and would highly recommend it.

Despite the wet weather, we enjoyed our time at the Wagon for the NYE weekend. The outdoor hot tub was fantastic & worth the effort of getting the fire going. The Wagon itself was very warm, cosy and very secluded - even without the leaves on the trees. The gas hob in the outdoor kitchen was a welcome bonus - as it was too wet to cook on the campfire.

Lovely secluded wagon in the middle of the woods - we loved making our own fire, cooking under the stars and getting away from it all for the weekend. Lovely owners and dog too! Would recommend bring wellies if autumn/ winter!
