Within easy reach of Canterbury and Whitstable, A Secret Garden really is a special discovery. You can get away from everything and everyone at this made-for-two adults-only hideaway complete with outdoor hot tub.
A Secret Garden offers something a little different down in East Kent. You won’t find a TV or superfast Wi-Fi – this place is about being together and escaping modern life. It’s all kept warm and cosy inside with a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating, while your king-size bed with pocket-sprung mattress enjoys views of the stars through the glass roof.
With a barbecue, a gas cooker and fridge freezer, you have the facilities to cook up breakfast, lunch or dinner – the table and chairs in the secluded garden makes the perfect spot to enjoy it. If you would rather dine out, the local pub is just five minutes’ walk away.
Compact but well thought out, the accommodation also features a wood-panelled shower room with flush toilet. There is even a surprising amount of storage space for your bits and pieces. The wooden hot tub is a real treat, so don’t miss out on a dip beneath the night sky. Bathrobes and towels are provided too.
A Secret Garden has parking for one car, and you are well-positioned to go and explore some of Kent’s most popular destinations. The university city of Canterbury always has something going on, whether its live theatre at the Marlowe or the Gulbenkian, festivals or craft markets.
There is no shortage of restaurants, bars and old-school pubs, and the city centre sees plenty of intriguing independents rubbing shoulders with big-name stores… and, of course, Canterbury Cathedral. A number of pretty villages can be found to the east of the city, with the timeless town of Sandwich lying just beyond.
A visit to Whitstable will show why it has become such a favourite in recent years. Full of seaside charm, this easy-going town has a varied dining scene and hosts the annual Oyster Festival each summer. Take a walk on the beach or enjoy a leisurely coffee in one of Whitstable’s many cafés… There’s no better place to soak up the character of the Kent coast.
Now the appeal of this part of Kent is not such a secret, why not enjoy some quality time together in A Secret Garden?

Leave a reviewStayed in The Secret Garden for 2 Nights with my Wife as we wanted a Romantic Getaway to celebrate our recent Wedding, and this property did not disappoint! While it is pricey, you certainly get your money's worth with unlimited use to the relaxing private Hot Tub, which we couldn't get enough of! The outdoor Firepit was a lovely touch, in which both firelighters and firewood was provided. As for the Cabin itself, the bed is extremely comfy, and we could not have asked for a better night's sleep! When we arrived, we were greeted with a goody bag containing local produce, along with a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the Fridge, which was a lovely touch. The kitchen was also fully stocked with all the cutlery/utensils that we required, as well as mugs, glasses, etc. And the Bathroom was also stocked with fluffy towels, and everything was easy to use. Could not recommend this property anymore for anyone who is considering a Romantic break/escape!

We came here for my birthday in September 2023. Both me and my boyfriend absolutely loved it and would come back in a heart beat. There was the added bonus of receiving a free hamper full of local treats and a bottle of Prosecco upon arrival - perfect way to celebrate. The sky was so clear when we stayed here and we managed to stargaze for a while - it was absolutely beautiful. You get given plenty of wood for the fire and the hot tub is constantly running so no need to wait for it to warm up. The indoor wood burning stove heats up the place really well too. Easy access and parking on sight. This is about a 10 minute drive from Canterbury centre - so loads to do whilst staying here! Will definitely be back! X

What a magical hobbit house! We visited as a birthday treat and were very pleasantly surprised with how amazing the place was. Beautifully decorated, incredible hot tub (that was steaming hot when we arrived!) a luxury hamper and bottle of prosessco in the fridge. Would highly recommend for a fun night away.
