Tucked away in the beautiful Sussex countryside is The Jolly Sportsman. This charming pub has been operating for over 20 years, and now they are opening their doors to staying guests. Guests can enjoy some high quality pub grub made with locally sourced produce in the restaurant, or wet their whistle in the surrounding garden. Or why not take in the arresting views from the roof terrace? With four rooms on offer (including one family suite), The Jolly Sportsman provides the perfect country getaway for couples and small families, and the ideal base from which to explore the South Downs National Park, and beyond.
The Jolly Sportsman's exterior is that of an old country house. On offer for patrons are four lovingly decorated bedrooms above the pub: three doubles and one suite suitable for families. Well-lit and spacious, every room has been constructed with guests' comfort in mind. They all boast a luxurious king size bed, flat screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Each room benefits from its own en suite bathroom, complete with a large waterfall shower. In the morning, why not enjoy a spot of breakfast in the conservatory? Here, you can enjoy lovely views over the garden and the South Downs. During those spring and summer days, the garden is the perfect spot to enjoy a tipple and take in the Sussex air.
The South Downs National Park stretches over 140km from west to east, so you will have no shortage of beautiful walks or cycling routes to enjoy - nor striking scenery to take in. Just to the south of The Jolly Sportsman is the county town of Lewes. This traditional market town is steeped in history and benefits from numerous sites of interest, including Lewes Castle, Lewes Priory, Bull House (the former home of Thomas Paine), and the 15th-Century Bookshop. Head a little further, down to the coast, and you come to Brighton and Hove. This famous resort city is steeped in history and culture, with a thriving nightlife, plenty of tourist attractions, great boutique shopping, gourmet eateries, and a stunning pebble beach. You certainly won't be stuck for things to do during your stay.
