This luxurious grade II listed cottage was formerly a wheelwright's shop and three separate cottages. Spacious and light, it's decorated in-keeping with its long history, but with modern appliances, making it the ideal getaway for a large family holiday or friends seeking an elegant and stylish stay in the country.
The downstairs of this double fronted repurposed cottage has a large well equipped and modern kitchen with original tiled flooring and contemporary fixtures, ideal for whipping up a feast to be enjoyed in the lovely dining room situated to the rear of the house. The room is light with a large dining table and chairs for eight people, a wonderful spot to while away a long evening by candle light with plenty of fine wines. You'll feel like you're in a different century.
There is a snug just off the kitchen with a big comfy sofa where you can settle in with a good book or enjoy a quiet afternoon snooze. The social hub is the sitting room which is large and light filled during the day, with two large sofas and some pretty antique furniture. The open fireplace makes it a perfect spot for a cosy night in with boardgames.
Upstairs you'll find four delightful bedrooms, all with king size beds. Each room has been decorated to a high standard with rugs on the floor, simple furniture and comfortable beds bedecked with crisp linens and cosy blankets. Three of the rooms have their own ensuites with the last bedroom having its own bathroom next door. As with the rest of the cottage you'll find some lovely prints and art on the walls and little ornaments dotted throughout creating a home from home feel.
Back downstairs and to the rear of the house there's a convenient boot room with plenty of storage, should you need it, and the room leads directly out into the private garden where you can gather together on warm evenings for a pre dinner drink. And if the weather is particularly lovely, why not dine out there too? The pretty patio has a dining area and plenty of seating. So, enjoy a sundowner with loved ones or settle yourself out there with some Jane Austen – the house is very reminiscent of her books!
When it's time to explore, you'll find the gorgeous Cowdray estate, within which your cottage is nestled, has a great deal to offer. And though very private, it is perfectly placed to explore West Sussex.
You'll be just two minutes from Easebourne where you can visit the Cowdray Farm Shop and Cafe. Grab a coffee and stock up with lots of luxurious local delights to enjoy back at the cottage.
On the estate itself you can have a go at Foraging with, George, the Estate Forager, or enjoy a round of golf on the course. There's also gun-dog training, guided horse riding, an award winning shooting school and a Polo Academy, if you fancy learning something new. The hosts would be happy to recommend some great local restaurants and pubs too if you'd like to explore further afield.
