Located in the village of Pulborough, with beautiful views of the South Downs National Park, this 15th-century house provides a relaxing rural retreat for families or groups of friends. It’s ideally located for those looking to slow down the pace and reconnect with nature. As well as the occasional deer wandering into the garden from the National Park, the property is also on the edge of the RSPB’s Pulborough Brooks, so there’s plenty of wildlife to spot before you even step out of the front door. Long walks in the South Downs are a must, followed by a long soak in the hot tub back at the house.
The interior has the feel of a cosy country cottage with low ceilings typical of a 15th-century home. It is decorated in an eclectic style mixing antique and contemporary furnishings. This means the house has much of its original character while adding in plenty of modern luxuries, such as a roll-top tub in one of the bathrooms, a fully-equipped modern kitchen and a spacious conservatory that enjoys beautiful views.
The conservatory is a lovely spot to enjoy a cup of tea or breakfast in the mornings. On warmer days, there’s plenty of space to sit outside in the garden, soaking up the view and some fresh countryside air. In the evening, retreat inside to the cosy living room to watch a movie on the TV in front of a crackling fire in the woodburner. Or, gather around the table in the dining room and tuck into a big family dinner.
You’ll find the bedrooms upstairs on the first and second floors. The master bedroom has a luxurious king-size bed and there are two double rooms, one under the eaves of the house. The snug has a bed that folds out as another king-size bed. There are shower rooms on the ground floor and the first floor and there’s a spacious family bathroom, featuring that gorgeous roll-top bath.
There’s plenty to do in the local area. Pulborough Brooks is right on your doorstep providing woodland and wildlife to explore and discover. A stroll through the village wouldn’t be complete without a stop at one of the pubs. The White Hart is located on the banks of the River Arun and is a picturesque place to stop for a drink, or there’s The White Horse, serving up hearty home-cooked food. Explore the South Downs National Park on foot or by bike and you’ll be treated to stunning scenery and some pretty villages here and there amongst the hills. There’s even a vineyard nearby where you can book yourselves in for a wine tasting.
