Sitting on the grounds of Sussex's Honeybridge Estate, just on the edge of the South Downs National Park, is The Cottage. A truly beautiful and historic property, The Cottage's exterior showcases its Tudor heritage, as rose bushes line the walls of the original exposed oak beams. The interior is equally as impressive, with period features - such as timber beams, vaulted ceilings, and an inglenook fireplace - being perfectly complimented by a combination of antique furniture, varied artwork, and modern conveniences. The grounds of the estate are over 17-acres and it has numerous activities such as tennis, croquet, and fishing on offer to keep guests occupied, ensuring that leisure and comfort are catered to in equal measure.
There is a spacious, open planned living and dining area with a large set of windows which bathe the room in light and offer gorgeous views out over the garden. The country kitchen is fully equipped and also has ample seating, making for the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast with your loved ones.
The Cottage can comfortably accommodate ten guests (five adults and five children). There are three bedrooms, each sitting beneath timber framed, vaulted ceilings. Orchard has a super king size bed, double sofa bed, ensuite WC and views overlooking the Estate’s orchard and neighbouring farmland. Bluebell is a single bedroom with a single pull-out bed which overlooks the adjacent woodland, and Garden has a king size bed, garden views overlooking the South Downs and its own ensuite bathroom. There is a separate (shared) shower and WC. Linen, towels and toiletries are provided alongside a welcome hamper, allowing guests to feel at home instantly.
Guests step outside The Cottage and onto the spacious terrace. Here, you can get an evening meal going on the BBQ as you take in the majestic rose garden while sat on the outdoor furniture. Should you wish to venture, Honeybridge Estate has over 17-acres of private land to explore. Facilities on offer include a shared games room, a charming treehouse, tennis court, table tennis, zip-wire, swings, football, cricket, croquet and more. The Estate Management team provide a concierge service and can arrange an array of well-being services (beauty, yoga, massage etc), a private chef, fishing lessons, guided cycling tours and other treats for you to enjoy during your stay. Do ask for more information when making your reservation!
While there is more than enough on-site to keep you and your fellow guests occupied during your stay, the local area is replete with things to see and do. The South Downs National Park is teaming with numerous walking and cycling trails, and the greater Sussex region has plenty of charming towns and villages. Ashurst and Steyning are the nearest village and town respectively, while the buzzing city of Brighton and Hove is a 40-minute drive to the south. The renowned Knepp Estate’s wilding project is in the neighbouring village of Dial Post. A 25-minute drive away you will come across the market town of Arundel. This beautiful medieval town is famed for its huge and incredibly well-preserved castle, with a history stretching all the way back to 1067. The Cottage at Honeybridge Estate is well worth a visit in our book!

Leave a reviewLovely spacious cottage, amazing fireplace. I stayed for my birthday with my two nieces, mum and our dogs. Dogs and people loved swimming in the lake and paddle boarding. Use of the indoor pool Sunday evening was a great bonus. Zip wire and grounds were good fun for us all. There were so many thought full extras, lovely welcome hamper, treats bowls and towel for the dogs, flip flops to use to go in and out, nice toiletries just so many great little touches to make you comfortable and special. Thank you for a lovely trip, hope to come again.
