Tucked away in the picturesque countryside of West Sussex and with stunning views over the South Downs National Park, The Rook Retreat offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. The interior is packed with character, with an eclectic collection of furnishings and decorations creating a unique backdrop for socialising with friends and family. The enormous, floor-to-ceiling windows in the living area boast stunning views of the surrounding landscape, helping you reconnect with nature and slow down the pace.
Step inside and you’ll be drawn through to the open-plan living space that becomes the social hub of the house. During the day, natural light floods the space thanks to those expansive windows and the high ceilings provide a relaxing and airy ambience. In the evenings, the warm tones used in the decor and the textures of the clay plaster on the walls create a cosy atmosphere. Rustle up meals in the well-equipped modern kitchen and eat at the dining table, perfectly positioned to enjoy the view. During warmer weather, gather everyone together outside on the deck and cook on the BBQ.
If you fancy a quiet moment with a book, there’s a second lounge area on the mezzanine level above the main living space or you could sneak off to relax in the hot tub outside, soaking up the views of the surrounding fields. There are five uniquely furnished bedrooms to choose from, all designed to help you unwind at the end of the day and with comfy beds promising a good night’s sleep. There are also three stylish bathrooms where you’ll find fluffy towels and toiletries waiting for you. If you need room for a couple of extra guests, there’s a sofa bed suitable for one guest and an additional floor mattress can be provided upon request.
Make the most of the outdoors during the warmer months, enjoying your meals out on the terrace or exploring the private bluebell woods where you’ll find a yoga platform. Enjoy a bit of stargazing from the comfort of the hot tub in the evening or play games out on the large lawn.
If you fancy getting out and doing a bit of exploring, there’s plenty to see and do in the area. Start with a stroll around the village of Amberley, with its pretty streets, traditional thatched houses and medieval castle. Pack your walking boots and set off along part of the South Downs Way for some beautiful scenery. Pulborough Brooks Nature Reserve is just a short drive away and offers excellent birdwatching opportunities, or you could visit the historic market town of Arundel, with its castle, cathedral and variety of independent shops and cafes.
