Indulge in a romantic hideaway right in the heart of Padstow at Stargazy an idyllic Cornish retreat for two.
Stargazy means couples can enjoy a truly romantic hideaway that still offers a great location right in the heart of the popular Cornish town of Padstow. This old fisherman’s cottage is only 50 yards from Rick Stein’s Cafe and the Paul Ainsworth at No6 restaurant, yet is tucked away in its own quiet mews terrace.
Sleeping two guests, Stargazy has been renovated to the highest of standards to ensure Cornish charm meets contemporary living. The ground floor is home to the open plan living space. A comfy sofa and armchair sits in front of the Smart TV and log burner, with a further cosy feeling provided by underfloor heating. This leads into the high end and fully equipped kitchen, which is complete with granite work surfaces, a butler sink, and top of the range NEFF appliances. Meals can then be enjoyed in the clever built-in bench seat and table.
The first floor is a relaxing retreat, with the stylish bedroom boasting a handcrafted oak bed with alpaca quilt and pillows. There is also a freestanding bath in the room, while a partition separates the actual bathroom with its toilet, basin, and shower.
After a short stroll from Stargazy, those staying are in the hustle and bustle of Padstow. The town is famed for its fine dining and as well as the aforementioned restaurants, there are also a number of pubs and delis to ensure that every meal is taken care of. The cottage is also just 200 yards from the harbour, which is brimming with working fishing boats and surrounded by cafes and shops - making it an ideal spot for simply sitting and watching the world go by.
For those who want to venture a little further afield then the Camel Trail starts in Padstow and is a superb route for cycling. It winds along the former North Cornwall Railway for 17 miles, going through Wadebridge before ending up in Bodmin. Alternatively, hop on a ferry and head across the River Camel to the exclusive village of Rock.
Although Padstow isn’t known for its beaches, just a 10-minute walk along the coast path leads to the golden sands of St George’s Cove, Tregils and Hawker’s Cove. There are also the great family beaches of Trevone and Harlyn, the latter being great for surfing - as is nearby Polzeath.
