Experience Georgian Elegance and 21st Century luxury at this beautiful farmhouse in picturesque Ilfracombe.
With swathes of sandy beaches and a historic harbour brimming with fishing boats, Ifracombe is ideally located for groups of family and friends to get together and discover and explore this lovely area of coastline. And this handsome Georgian farmhouse provides an elegant base to relax and unwind between excursions to the sea and beyond.
Exquisitely decorated, this property has been renovated to the highest standard, with all the modern conveniences required for a comfortable and relaxing stay, yet with much of the farmhouse's original features kept intact to preserve its character and integrity. At the heart of the building is a large farmhouse style kitchen. A wooden island sits on flag stone floors and stripped timbers run across the ceiling, there is a traditional Belfast style sink and a heavy wooden table where visitors can get stuck into breakfasts and dinners which stretch late into the night. Cooks will love slow roasting meat in the Aga oven which emits heat and creates a cosy, welcoming vibe. There is also an electric hob and built in oven too, for guest's convenience. A gorgeous tartan couch sits in the corner just waiting for guests to settle in with a glass of wine, catching up while dinner is prepared.
After dinner, snuggle down in the immaculate lounge, with plenty of comfy sofas and an impressive inglenook fireplace with wood burner. Kick off your shoes, curl up and catch a movie on the flatscreen television, get stuck into a good book or simply chat and laugh with friends and family. When bedtime beckons, there are five bedrooms to chose from, two of which are en suite for added privacy. All have good quality mattresses and linens, cosy carpets and rugs and blinds to ensure deep, uninterrupted sleep, leaving guests refreshed for another day by the sea.
To make the most of the sea air, enjoy morning coffee out in the farmhouse's pretty private courtyard. With picnic tables and a barbecue provided, it's a great spot for keen anglers to cook up the day's catch.
The area offers plenty to see and do for everyone. Surfers, sea dippers and sand castlers will love the sandy beaches of Croyde and Saunton Sands, or perhaps explore the coastal path or head slightly inland to wild Exmoor. And for culinary explorers there is plenty to discover too. For fine dining, book a table at the Michelin-starred Thomas Carr 1873, for seafood check out The Brasserie at The Carlton or if it's afternoon tea that's required, enjoy the home-baked goods at the Hele Corn Mill Tearoom.
