Close to the South Devon coast, you will find Swallows' Flight, a fabulous holiday destination that consists of two lovely holiday barns. These two marvellous properties are separately bookable and are set in a stretch of quiet farmland near Chillington, South Devon with some delightful beaches and fantastic countryside nearby.
The first of the barns is Fledgling Barn. This is a newly renovated luxury barn that is flooded with natural light and offers groups of up to six guests a relaxing break in the Devon countryside. Socialise with your loved ones in the spacious lounge, enjoy hearty meals that stretch long into the night around the big dining table and relax in the sunshine on the spacious patio where you can enjoy the view with a glass of something delicious.
Fledgling Barn also has two lovely ensuite bedrooms and an additional mezzanine bedroom-cum-office space. There’s also an opulent roll-top bath tub offering you the chance to indulge in a relaxing soak after a day at the beach. Guests will love the amazing country views and will find meal preparation a breeze in the well-equipped kitchen, which features state-of-the-art cookware and appliances, including a combined fridge and freezer, hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and elegant earthenware. Local artwork and tasteful furnishings tie the spaces together, providing an elegant sense of peaceful unity and continuity.
The second barn at Swallows’ Flight is The Nest. This is a 19th Century barn made of stone and wood that has been newly converted into a beautiful retreat for two. Open plan, the barn sleeps two adults and has an option of adding a cot for infants, with space for two children on the sofa bed. This cosy barn offers yet more lovely farmland views and also comes with its own private hot tub, where you can relax and unwind in the fresh country air.
The quaint kitchen in The Nest is nicely equipped and there’s a cute dining table for four that makes meal times a joy. The bedroom has a luxurious double bed and there’s a bathroom with a big roll-top bath tub.
Guests staying at the properties can make the most of some of the amazing shared spaces. There’s plenty of space for children to play on the lawns, as well as five acres of open fields on the working farm just waiting to be explored.
Guests who venture out will be able to explore the stunning surrounds of South Devon. But no worries if you’d rather get around on foot; the property is also within walking distance of the village of Chillington, which is home to the Devon Dining pub of the year as well as a well stocked village shop. There are also plenty of walks that you can access which will take you to the South West Coastal Path with many stunning beaches.
Just one of these is the South Devon AONB, the boundaries of which begin just a short drive away from the property. For nature enthusiasts, this part of the county is an absolute must-see. Not only is it home to some of the UK's most breathtaking views, but you'll also find a number of significant nature reserves and Special Areas of Conservation within the South Devon AONB; nationally important populations of certain species, like the horseshoe bat and cirl bunting, call the area home.
Just a few of the South Devon AONB's highlights include Slapton Sands, the cliffs of Bolt Head, Bolberry Down's epic, jagged stretch of coast and the River Dart and Salcombe estuaries. Fledgling Barn is well placed for easy access to the South Hams hub towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Totnes.
