Sitting on the same plot of land as the original barn, West Barn is a brand new building that offers groups of up to six guests a fantastic place to stay in Devon. The barn is located close to the picturesque River Dart just outside Dartington, and provides you and your loved ones with great access to some fabulous walking routes and charming village pubs.
The barn itself pays homage to its roots, with industrial architecture and large open spaces. The main living area features a nicely-equipped kitchen, a fantastic dining area and a comfy lounge space with a wood-burning stove. The double-height space makes use of brand new, vintage and bespoke pieces that help create a unique industrial style.
This big open area is ideal for socialising and makes use of stylish minimal design and huge windows that provide outstanding views. Get comfy in the lounge with a glass of wine in front of the fire, or dive into a good book on the reading seats next to the bookshelves. Your designated chef will love the nicely equipped kitchen and the grand dining table makes meal times a joy.
You can also slide open the glass doors to let the outside in when the weather’s warm. This opens the indoor space up into the garden, where a chunky picnic bench allows you to enjoy an alfresco meal with a view. There are also some fantastic spots outside to sit whilst taking in your surroundings, offering the perfect place to relax with a book or a morning coffee.
Back inside, when bedtime beckons, the barn features three modern, relaxing bedrooms. The bedrooms make use of minimalist design, with large windows nicely framing the view. Two of the bedrooms feature king size beds and the third bedroom has two singles. One bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom for added convenience. The rooms provide comfy bedding and calming decor, and the contemporary bathrooms feature sleek and stylish design as well as modern showers and one bathtub where you can indulge in a relaxing soak.
West Barn is located in the Dart Valley, sitting half way between Dartmoor and the South Devon coast. This means you’re perfectly placed to enjoy all of the best that Devon has to offer. Head to the coast and visit the seaside towns of Totnes, Ashburton and the wonderful Dartmouth. If you wish to stay closer by, you’re a short hop from the Dartington Hall Estate and the mediaeval market town of Totnes. There are also some lovely walking routes for you to enjoy that take you along the banks of the sublime River Dart.

If we could give West Barn more stars, we would. Magnificent property with wonderful outdoor seating areas and breathtaking views. Great for creating memories. Loved the fire pit on which we toasted marshmallows. Inside was just simply splendid. We have been to numerous properties over the years and this is by far the best we have visited. West Barn is place is breath taking. I booked a last minute stay for my husband and me and we were both blown away. The communication with Gemma was great and everything really easy despite the last minute booking. The barn itself is a dream. The spaces are so carefully thought out. I could have spent more than a week in the library! So much care and thought has gone into every detail. The beds were so comfortable that I’ve ordered the same bedding for home.

Staying in the recently converted open-plan barn was an absolute delight. We had the privilege of being the first guests to experience its charm, and it truly felt like a warm welcome. The barn's open-plan design seamlessly blended the indoors with the outdoors, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. One of the highlights was the spacious open-plan living area that allowed us to relax and unwind in style. The barn's cleverly designed layout made it feel incredibly roomy, and we loved the natural light pouring in through the large windows. One of our favourite features was the outdoor dining area and fire pit. We spent our evenings enjoying meals and talking around the cosy fire, making it truly memorable. Overall, our stay in this converted barn was a wonderful experience. It combined modern comfort with the rustic charm of the countryside, making us feel right at home. If you're seeking a tranquil and welcoming escape, this barn should be at the top of your list.
