This wonderful Cornish holiday home overlooking St Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse in Lelant is everything you could hope for in a seaside house and would be perfect for up to 10 people. This home by the sea is ideal for friends or family, seeking sunshine, sea and fresh Cornish air.
When you walk in to Ferryman's Rest you'll be delighted by how light, cheerful and welcoming the space is. There's a long fully equipped galley kitchen with patio doors opening onto the terrace, it's open plan and connects to a large dining and living area with a big table where you can enjoy long lazy suppers. The living area has a big comfy sofa and a wood burner for cooler evenings in watching movies or playing games.
This area also leads into a big sun room with another large dining table that provides a great view of the bay and would be perfect for bustling breakfasts and evenings tucking into some fresh local shellfish with crisp white wine. The décor is very seaside-centric with white wooden floors, high beamed ceilings and beach inspired art and ornaments dotted around.
If you're visiting in the summer you'll probably want to spend the majority of your time out on the gorgeous terrace. This is a wonderful treat with a BBQ for alfresco dining after a day on the sandy Lelant beach, which can be accessed via a flight of steps directly from the terrace. Famous for its crystal clear waters, this beach is also dog friendly all year and a great way to start the day with your furry friend. Enjoy a day of swimming, strolling and sandcastle building before heading back to the terrace for a cold drink, something hot off the BBQ and the sound of the sea lapping gently below. As if this weren't enough, there's also a hot tub from which you can watch the stars come out at night.
When it's time to sleep you have four great rooms to choose from. One has up to four singles which would be good for children or friends sharing and there are a further two king size rooms and a triple bunk room consisting of double below and single above. The décor in the rooms is simple, clean and cool and you'll find the beds very comfy and decked out with high quality linens and fluffy pillows promising a peaceful night's rest with the sound of the sea for company.
In the morning you can make use of the white-quartz tiled family bathroom which has a big bathtub with a shower overhead and heated towel rails to keep things warm and fluffy. There's also a separate shower room so no need for queues in the morning!
Enjoy breakfast out on the terrace with that special St Ives light and make your plans for the day. You might not want to leave this idyll by the sea, but if you do, there is plenty to be enjoyed in the area. Make use of the West Coastal Path and enjoy a morning walk with fabulous views. Lelant is a peaceful village and has two pubs and a bistro where you can stop off at for a pint and a bite to eat, or take a longer walk along to St Ives where you'll find a pretty harbour and some famous sandy beaches.
There's also the Barbara Hepworth Museum, the former home of the leading Sculptress Barbara Hepworth, and the Tate where you can take in some lovely artwork. There is also the Leach Pottery in St Ives as well!
If you fancy trying some water sports Hayle is great choice for kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing. If you're here for the food, head to Carbis Bay which has some excellent modern restaurants. The hosts also recommend a day trip to The Eden Project.
