Nestled in 18 acres of idyllic parkland in Powys, this magnificent Grade II listed manor is perfect for celebrations and get togethers with friends and family. The property has a rich history dating back well over a thousand years. The current manor house is a grand example of 19th century architecture, built when the land was transformed into a sporting estate. The interiors are still extravagantly decorated with period furnishings and you’ll find open fires, four poster beds, decadent wallpaper and elegant soft furnishings wherever you turn. Once you’ve explored the house and all of its 19 bedrooms, head outside to stroll through the surrounding parkland, home to lots of wildlife and offering the opportunity to do a bit of fishing. Or, you can simply soak up the beautiful views from the comfort of the hot tub out on the terrace.
Packed with all the charm and character of a 19th century country manor, stepping inside is almost like going back in time. There are several living spaces, from the bright and spacious garden lounge overlooking the parkland to sitting rooms with sofas and armchairs gathered around beautiful fireplaces.
When it's time to gather everyone for dinner, head to the grand wood-panelled dining room with two long tables seating 38 set in front of a huge open fire. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated with carved bed frames, cosy sitting areas and antique furnishings giving each its own character.
The uninterrupted views from many of the bedroom windows over the surrounding countryside will inspire you to get out and explore. The manor is set in a diverse landscape with woodlands, cliffs and parkland that’s home to a wide array of birds and animals. Head out for a walk and see if you can spot some of the local inhabitants or try your hand at a bit of fishing in the River Irfon.
If you fancy venturing a little further afield, the Wye Valley Walk and Cycle Route goes past the manor taking you deeper into the countryside. The Brecon Beacons National Park is a short drive to the south where you’ll find trails to follow through rugged landscapes past waterfalls and through enchanting woodland. For a change of pace, visit the market town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its many delightful bookstores and annual literature festival.
