Grand Victorian house with a swimming pool and tennis court on a private estate in Wiltshire’s beautiful countryside, perfect for big get-togethers.
Set in a peaceful spot on the grand Longford Estate in Wiltshire’s rolling countryside, this stunning Grade II listed Victorian house is a great choice for large groups or families looking to enjoy a relaxing escape or celebrate a special occasion. It was originally built as the estate’s dower house overlooking the stunning castle. It now comfortably hosts up to 35 guests in 12 bedrooms that have been tastefully updated while showing off the original period features that give the house its charm.
Wake up in your grand four poster bed and head out for a refreshing dip in the pool. Relax in the hot tub as you soak up the views of the surrounding gardens and parkland before a game of tennis or a BBQ. In the evenings, gather everyone together for a home-cooked feast before snuggling up in front of one of the fire places.
As you approach the house along the sweeping drive, you’ll be greeted by manicured hedges and the house’s impressive exterior with its tall chimneys and Victorian grandeur. Step inside and explore the five reception rooms, providing plenty of space for everyone to relax, whether you fancy curling up with a book in a quiet corner or enjoying some games with everyone in the evening. There’s a fully equipped kitchen with everything you’ll need for catering for large groups and a dining room that’s the perfect setting for celebratory dinners together. You can take care of the cooking yourselves or hire a caterer to do the work while you relax.
There are 12 bedrooms, all beautifully furnished with fabulous rugs, fireplaces, ornate chandeliers and some with carved four poster beds. Enjoy the stunning views over the gardens and parkland with a cup of tea in the morning, before freshening up in one of the eight bathrooms.
With the large private gardens featuring plenty of space for games on the lawn, the heated swimming pool, hot tub, BBQ and tennis court, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.
However, if you do fancy heading out to explore, the city of Salisbury is nearby with its historic cathedral. This beautiful gothic building is well worth a visit and boasts Britain’s tallest spire. Stonehenge is within easy reach by car or Boscombe Down Aviation Collection offers the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of historic aircraft. You can also book a guided tour of Longford Castle and gardens, including its fantastic art collection.
