This stunning Grade 2* listed Georgian property offers large groups a grand, spectacular holiday destination in the picturesque Dorset countryside. Once reported to be the largest rectory in England, the Old Rectory is now a large country house with amazing social spaces that offers you the perfect destination for a big family get together or a holiday with lots of friends.
Located in the quiet, rural village of Symondsbury, the Old Rectory sleeps 22 guests in 11 lovely bedrooms, with a further nine little ones able to join you via the use of additional day beds and trundle beds (suitable for kids only), increasing its capacity to 31. Throughout the property the classic design and comfy furnishings guarantee you an enjoyable stay and there are plenty of spots where you can socialise in style. Enjoy a drink in the card room/library that's complete with a cocktail cabinet or get comfy in the large sitting room that has the full Sky TV package. If you want to unwind in peace, away from the group, then the cosy movie snug is perfect!
When the weather's warm you'll want to head outside and breathe in that fresh Dorset air. You can spread out and soak up the sunshine on the two lawned gardens, or sit on the veranda with BBQ and take in the views of the lush fields all around you.
Dining at The Old Rectory is a real joy thanks to the grand dining room that can easily seat up to 32 guests. This room has classical style throughout due to big round tables, a roaring fireplace, hanging chandeliers and fantastic artwork on the walls. It really is the perfect place for a grand feast. When it comes to meal prep, the kitchen is fabulously equipped to ensure the designated chefs can cook breakfast, lunch and dinner with ease. For more informal dining, the breakfast room seats up to 16 guests and offers a nice spot to sit with your morning coffee plotting the day ahead.
When bed time beckons, the 11 bedrooms are beautifully styled with super-comfy beds, carefully chosen furnishings and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. There are also a number of bathrooms on offer with free standing bath tubs, ensuring you can relax and unwind after a day out exploring the area.
The Old Rectory sits in a picturesque village. Symondsbury has a wonderful local pub, a charming farm shop, a cafe, and even an art gallery. And if you venture out a little further, the vibrant market town of Bridport is within easy reach. You're also nicely located to explore a number of beautiful beaches. The fab seaside town of Lyme Regis is close by and offers a great day out for all the family.
