Located near the sea in rural Suffolk, Belle Grove Barns is a collection of five former agricultural buildings, now renovated into truly unique self-catering cottages, each with its own extraordinary aesthetic, and all benefitting from the same consistently high standard of amenities and facilities. Combining a globally eclectic array of art objects, tapestries and furniture, each of the five barns has a different internal vibe. All are kitted out with superbly-equipped class kitchens and entertainment systems, creating a suite of self-catering spaces which you won't find anywhere else.
Each of the spaces benefits from a heavily timbered interior heated with underfloor heating throughout and wood-burning stove. Living spaces are arranged on an open plan basis and all the en-suite bathrooms offer bathtubs with digital rainfall showers (save one wet room in Upper Barn). The kitchens offer the full range of facilities you would expect, as well as granite work surfaces, multi-fuel ranges and large fridge/freezers.
Upper Barn (sleeps 6) is arranged over two stories, with the living, dining and kitchen space downstairs, along with a large bedroom with a versatile bed (twin or king size) and en-suite shower room to accommodate those who can’t manage a bath. The first floor of this Raj-inspired space contains two spacious double bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and an en-suite bathroom apiece.
The secure walled garden contains a south-facing summer house for the exclusive use of the Barn occupants.
Also boasting its own walled garden with south-facing summer house, the Granary (sleeps 4) comes with the same world-class amenities throughout, and two double bedrooms on the first floor.
The Coach House (sleeps 4) offers a different style vibe but still exotic. Upstairs comprises two double en-suite bedrooms one of which is vaulted. French doors give direct access to the attractive walled garden overlooking the pond.
Suitable for a couple, the Gate House is also arranged over two stories and overlooks a pretty pond. There is an attractive bijou walled garden. The open-plan living space downstairs enjoys a wood burning stove and the upper storey offers a spacious vaulted bedroom (with king bed) and large en-suite bathroom.
Also suitable for a couple, the sumptuous Stable is arranged on the one floor with no internal steps. Offering a four-poster bed and additional sofa-cum-double bed (for occasional use only), the Stable benefits from a marble-finished gothic bathroom with roll-top bath and shower. It enjoys its own walled sun-trap garden.
In the wider context, the Barns are situate in the heart of a network of historic towns; less than eight miles from Southwold, Halesworth and Beccles, to name but three. Southwold has fantastic fresh fish and a classic coastal charm, while Halesworth is steeped in history, is a foodie's mecca and has a great Arts Centre. Atmospheric local pubs, with marvellous food and local craft beer, can be found by walking the many footpaths or country lanes in all directions.
