Nestled in the unique landscape of the Broads National Park, just 15 minutes from Norwich, Flint and Chalk provide treehouse-style self-contained accommodation for up to four guests. These cosy Woodland Dens have been cleverly built on stilts, rising out of the woodland to make the most of the wonderful views from the private balconies. Spend your days exploring the Broads on foot or by boat or head to the Norfolk coast to visit the seals at Horsey Gap, before heading back to put dinner on the BBQ and snuggle up in front of the log burner.
Each of the Dens is situated in its own private glade with the Broads on one side and private woodland on the other. They are built into the sloping ground of the woodland, so that while you enter at ground level on one side, the deck on the other provides a raised vantage point from which you can enjoy the view and watch the local wildlife.
Inside, you’ll find a cosy living area where you can put your feet up in front of the log burner or open up the doors onto the deck and let in some of that fresh countryside air. There’s plenty of natural light thanks to large windows and the double-height ceiling above part of the living area. A hammock floor has been installed in this open area of the upper level, providing more space to kick back and relax. There’s no need to leave any home comforts behind with a well-equipped kitchen and a modern shower room. You’ll find a comfy double bed on the mezzanine floor and a pull-out sofa bed provides sleeping space for another two guests.
Outside, in the private woodland glade, there’s everything you’ll need to make the most of the outdoors. Relax in a hammock with a book or get something sizzling away on the BBQ for a late lunch. You’ll be able to stay out late into the evening gathered around the fire pit, toasting marshmallows and sipping mugs of hot chocolate as you plan your next day’s adventures in the Norfolk Broads.
There’s plenty to do in the area with Norwich’s historic city centre just a couple of miles away in one direction and the stunning Norfolk Broads in the other. Stroll down to the water from your Woodland Den and hire a canoe to explore the landscape from the water. Or, lace up your walking boots and explore some of the Wherryman’s Way which will take you through open countryside, woodland, market towns and past lakes. Head into Norwich and soak up some of the area’s history with a visit to Norwich Castle or a stroll through the Lanes where you’ll find plenty of independent shops and eateries.
