Relax and unwind in this peaceful retreat in the picturesque Essex countryside. These two comfy Woodland Lodges are nestled in their own small expanse of woodland and are surrounded by beautiful open fields. Wake to the tranquility of nature as you enjoy a morning coffee on your deck in the sunshine before heading out to explore this fab part of the UK. And, thanks to your very own, private hot tub, you can relax and unwind in style come the evening, enjoying a glass of something delicious as the sun sets. Book a single lodge for a small family break or a romantic retreat, or book both lodges and enjoy a larger group getaway.
English Oak Lodge features a double bed and an additional pull-out sofa bed, sleeping four in total, whilst the Silver Birch Lodge has a double bed and a bunk bed for two, as well as a pull-out sofa bed, meaning it can sleep up to two adults and up to three children. You'll also be pleased to know that each lodge is dog friendly, so you can bring your canine companions with you on your holiday!
The living areas feature comfy sofas and a nicely equipped kitchen that has everything you'll need to whip up delicious meals throughout your stay. These living rooms also feature large patio doors that allow the natural light to come flooding in and nicely connect the inside with the generous outside garden. These big glass doors also offer you lovely views of the surrounding countryside that you can enjoy from the comfort of the sofa. Both lodges also feature central heating to ensure you stay cosy and warm all year round.
The two lodges are separated by cherry laurel (which was planted a year ago, so is roughly five foot tall), providing you with your very own private space, and outside you have a nice deck with some comfy deck chairs and a picnic bench for alfresco dining. There's also a hot tub outside each lodge that is screened for added privacy, and when the night rolls in, you can light the firepit and put your feet up toasting marshmallows on the flames.
Guests that are feeling nice and active have access to a tennis court that is situated nearby in the woods. And perfect for kids of all ages is the games room, kitted out with pool table, ping pong, toys, darts, table football, and a punch-bag and boxing gloves for anyone wanting to channel their inner Rocky.
Guests staying at Woodland Lodges have plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. The nearby fields offer a range of delightful walking routes and the local village is just an eight-minute walk away. The village has a nice park, a lovely dog-friendly pub, a shop and a Post Office. There's also a brewery that you can visit! Slightly further afield is the charming market town of Sudbury (11 miles away) and the historic city of Colchester (21 miles away). You can also venture into Suffolk and explore Constable Country. Here you will discover a wealth of pretty towns, villages and areas to visit including Lavenham and Dedham Vale. Other local attractions include Braintree Designer Village, Water Sports at Gosfield Lake (10 mins away), and kayaking, paddle boarding and river cruises are available in Sudbury (15mins away).

Leave a reviewStayed in the English Oak lodge as a couple with our dog for 3 nights and all I can say is perfect getaway from the city to a nice country retreat. Great balance between privacy and there if you need assistance with anything queries etc. Also would recommend using the massage service which they provide in the comfort of your lodge my partner said the lady was brilliant. Thank you for having us will definitely be back
