Set on a farm in the idyllic landscape of north east Essex, these three gorgeous cabins provide luxury accommodation with a rural twist. Malting Farm is a family-run farm and the cabins are surrounded by nature, located between a secluded wildflower meadow and a gently trickling stream.
The three cabins are named after some of the local wildlife and each has its own character. Stoats Burrow is a two-bedroom cabin that can sleep up to six. You’ll find a king-size bed in the master bedroom with a beautiful wooden headboard and cosy linen. Step out through the French doors onto the deck where you’ll find the hot tub. The second bedroom has double bunk beds and the rooms share a bathroom which has a luxurious roll-top bathtub.
Hares Hideaway is perfect for a small family with a king-size master bedroom and single bunks in the second bedroom. The master bedroom has an indulgent roll-top bath in the room and there’s a hot tub out on the deck behind the cabin. There’s another deck with outdoor dining space and a barbecue.
Otters Lodge is great for slightly bigger families or groups of friends with another king-sized master bedroom and two sets of single bunk beds in the second bedroom. There’s a lovely kitchen and seating area with a rustic feel which is the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious dinner together. There’s a private hot tub out at the back of the cabin, accessed via the master bedroom and more outdoor space with a barbecue to the front of the cabin.
Upon arrival, you’ll find some homemade treats waiting for you and you’ll have access to Malting Farm’s communal areas. The kids will love the zip wire and the nature trail. You can also order breakfast hampers and home-cooked suppers to make things that little bit easier.
There’s plenty to do on the farm itself. Go for a dip in the reservoir or book a paddleboarding session for the family. The reservoir is regularly stocked with fish so if you bring your fishing equipment along with you, you’re welcome to cast a line during your stay. Venturing a little further afield and exploring the local area is possible via bikes available to hire, on foot or by boat. There are also several beaches nearby and you can enjoy the sandy Frinton-on-the-Sea with its pretty beach huts or hunt for fossils at Walton-on-the-Naze.
