This quaint and cosy cottage sits in the middle of a beautiful estate in rural Essex, offering groups of up to seven guests a marvellous stay on the edge of historic Coombs woodland. A newly refurbished Victorian cottage, Cosgrove Cottage has a perfect blend of old world charm and modern amenities.

When you arrive, gather in the dual aspect, panelled living room, with its large bay window flooding the space with natural light. The lounge also has a wood-burner to keep you toasty and warm on colder days and French doors that open up onto the terrace in summer. You’ll also find a smart TV here, should you wish to indulge in an evening watching your favourite movies and box sets.

When hunger strikes, head to the beautiful kitchen to whip up delicious feasts making use of the modern appliances and amenities. There’s also a cute dining area here, offering a delightful space to enjoy meals together that stretch long into the night.

Outdoors, Cosgrove Cottage has a pretty woodland garden, providing you with plenty of space to unwind in the fresh country air. Get comfy under one of two sheltered terraces or sit in the sunshine on the large deck. There’s also a BBQ and firepit out here, so you can grill up locally sourced produce and toast marshmallows under the stars.

When night falls, head inside and choose from one of the four beautiful bedrooms. The cottage offers one master room with a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom for added privacy, and two king size rooms that can also be arranged as twins if required. One of these offers delightful views out across the estate and the other sits on the ground floor, making it ideal for those with mobility issues. The final room is a single, meaning this cottage offers plenty of flexibility for different group types. The cottage also features three beautifully appointed bathrooms, with a mixture of showers and baths.

The cottage sits in Langham Hall Estate, which is nestled in 500 acres of stunning Essex countryside. Wander through woodlands and fields, or bring your horse to enjoy private off-road hacking and a 1.25km gallop. For groups, try a fun-filled simulated shoot day with delicious food and drink included.

Beyond the estate, explore Constable Country’s River Stour, Dedham’s Georgian high street and art landmarks like Flatford Mill and Willy Lott’s House. Indulge at the Talbooth Spa, which is a short hop away, or enjoy Michelin-recommended dining at The Sun Inn or riverside Talbooth Restaurant. For family fun, visit Colchester Zoo or Manningtree Beach or drift along the Stour in a vintage boat.
