Osea Island sits on Essex's River Blackwater, offering visitors a uniquely tranquil and picturesque getaway. It is a wonderfully scenic location, less than an hour's drive from London. Over 3,000 chestnuts, sycamores, limes and oaks line the way of the village on the island, and it is here that you will find The Chapel Houses. Each of these two semi detached holiday homes have been meticulously decorated to the highest of standards, oozing quaint charm and homespun comforts.
They have an eclectic décor which lends each house its own distinct character and their three bedrooms sleep six guests in total. An additional sofa bed makes it up to eight guests per home. Rented separately or as a pair, these delightful bolt holes are ideal for groups of families or friends seeking a truly serene escape.
The living area of 1 Chapel House exhibits a nautical theme and has ample seating and a wall-mounted flat screen TV. 2 Chapel House's lounge is similarly equipped, although its appearance is of a more traditional constitution. Regardless, both sitting areas offer the perfect spot for an evening curled up with a film.
Each kitchen is well proportioned and equipped, while all the usual mod cons make for a delightful cooking space. Both dining rooms comfortably seat six guests, making dinner times a joy.
There are three charming bedrooms in both Chapel Houses: two doubles, and a cosy twin room. The upstairs balcony has a double sofa bed for an additional two guests should you need it. One family bathroom houses a bath, ideal for a luxurious, relaxing soak, while the other has a walk-in shower. A set of double doors in each house leads out onto the outdoor decking, with its sun loungers, meaning you have an ideal place to catch some rays, enjoy a relaxing morning coffee or take in the uninterrupted starry skies at night.
If you are somebody that enjoys tranquility and arresting scenery, then Osea Island is for you. You will have over five miles of private beaches to wander, and its remote location and lack of light pollution allows you to observe the gorgeous nighttime star-laden sky. ‘The Shack’ café offers locally sourced food and doubles as a cinema while The Bomb Factory (a former First World War torpedo store) provides catering for weddings, parties and events. The island's pub, The Puffin, is where you can wet your whistle in the evening. Other amenities available on Osea include a heated outdoor swimming pool, pop-up games room, a gym, beach volleyball, a football pitch, mini-golf and a croquet lawn.
