Rural luxury in this former stable situated on a private estate in pretty Suffolk.
In the grounds of a historic country house on the edge of a pretty Suffolk village, this former stable, full of style and character, is a beautiful place to enjoy a relaxing stay.
The large studio style cottage has been renovated to a high standard and, with a vaulted ceiling, is light and welcoming. Round feature windows let in pools of light and there are several attractive pendant lamps which illuminate dark evenings. A duck egg blue kitchen sits at one end of the studio. It is large and well-equipped with everything required for creating for large groups. A wooden-topped island sits in the centre and makes a great spot for breakfast or a casual supper. There is also a large oak dining table with seating for four, offering the ideal spot for a romantic meal.
Over in the living area, a handsome pair of Chesterfield sofas face the library, two walls of book shelves filled with novels and local guides. Pour a drink, browse the shelves, chose a book and sink into the brown leather couches for cosy, quiet nights-in.
A panelled wall separates the book shelves and pulls aside to reveal the gorgeous bedroom. This room features a super king sized wooden framed bed with a deep comfy mattress that is dressed with crisp linens to ensure that guests can have a great night's sleep. Morning light pours through the large round window and guests will want to bathe in the rays until it's time to get up and enjoy the new day. Belongings can be stored in the pine armoire and an upholstery armchair sits to the side.
In the warmer months, head out through the double doors, which lead from the living area, and onto the private terrace. Lounge on the outdoor armchairs or sit up at the wooden table for lengthy lunches enjoying the warm sun. There is also a large parasol here providing shade from the sunshine. The terrace overlooks a large walled lawn and this area is just a fraction of the outdoor space available for guests to explore.
Beyond Belchamp, guests will find plenty to occupy their days. Pretty Suffolk has many lovely stretches of sandy beach to discover and a trip to the seaside town of Aldeburgh makes a really pleasant day out. The area also provided inspiration to many artists including Gainsborough, Constable and Turner. Visitors can spend a morning at his former house in Sudbury which is now a dedicated museum and gallery. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at The Angel, recommended for its home-cooked food.
Please note that the minimum stay for this property is 3 nights
