Escape from the stresses of city life with a relaxing break in these two wonderful, luxurious, country cottages. These two Grade II Listed homes are located just one hour away from central London and offer an ideal getaway in a place where the green grass and fresh air abounds.
Rural, yet not too remote, traditional yet contemporary, these properties make a perfect location for a romantic break, offering comfy furnishings, pretty interiors and a fab location.
The Buttery
The first of the two cottages, The Buttery, has exposed brick and oak beams, ensuring the character of this lovely cottage has been retained. With underfloor heating, a wood burner (with a basket of logs) and sheep wool insulation you’re guaranteed to stay warm throughout the year. Cuddle up on the large, stylish, fawn sofa that looks directly across to a large glass door which lets in an abundance of light and offers wonderful views of the surrounding farmland.
This open plan area has a well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen, taking away the stress from cooking, and those romantic suppers can be enjoyed by candlelight at the circular dining table. On warmer evenings, sit outside and take in the sounds of nature from the cottage's private garden.
Through to the bedroom and another peaceful view can be enjoyed from a large, glass window/door which leads directly out on to the farmhouse courtyard.
The bedroom has a super-comfy bed and has beautiful, natural chestnut boarding which adorns one of the walls. There’s also a stunning, marble-clad en-suite bathroom with a large sink, plenty of lighting and complimentary toiletries.
The Old Dairy
The second cottage is called the Old Dairy. This is equally beautiful, and offers just as much comfort and luxury as the first. Spacious and lovingly decorated, this is a romantic escape that offers plenty of natural light, and warmth and cosiness come winter.
The living room has delightful furnishings that sit around a log burner, meaning you can rest up with a glass of wine and a book and relax in style. The exposed brick in the kitchen combines with the wooden beams to give the property a truly rural feel, however, the modern appliances make cooking at meal times a dream.
Jump on the bath after day exploring the wondrous countryside that surrounds you before enjoying a perfect night’s sleep in the big and sumptuous four poster bed.
The Cambridgeshire countryside has an abundance of country walks and pretty villages with great pubs serving good food. Close to The Buttery is the picturesque village of Horningsea, home to a lovely pub, The Crown and the Punchbowl, which is known for its good food.
Just three miles away is the historic city of Cambridge. This famous city has an abundance of shops, restaurants, and world-class museums. But no trip to Cambridge would be complete without a taking a Punt on the River Cam and taking in the stunning architecture from the comfort of the water.
