Nestled in the heart of Cambridgeshire within 23 acres of private parkland, The Hay Loft is a luxurious, romantic getaway for two. This beautifully restored barn was once part of a dairy with a huge timbered barn dating back to the 16th century. The use of traditional materials, such as sheep wool insulation and timber beams, has maintained the building’s character. However, all sorts of modern luxuries have been added, such as underfloor heating, an Italian bath and a hot tub. You’ll be able to relax in the utmost comfort after a day strolling through the countryside or exploring the city of Cambridge, just two and a half miles away.
The Hay Loft is bright and spacious with plenty of natural light flooding the living space via floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a private south-facing courtyard garden. You’ll find gorgeous wooden beams overhead and exposed brick walls alongside contemporary furnishings. Sit back and relax in front of the wood-burning stove while getting stuck into a board game or a book. Enjoy breakfast at the dining table as the morning light hits the courtyard outside, or rustle up some dinner in the well-equipped kitchen.
Move through to the bedroom where you’ll find a four-poster super king-size bed complete with a Savoir mattress for a luxurious night’s sleep. You’ll find a beautiful free-standing Italian bath in the ensuite, the perfect spot to relax after a busy day exploring. There’s also a hot tub outside, with views across the countryside, where you can enjoy a glass of something as the sun sets.
The Hay Loft is located on the edge of the charming village of Horningsea. Go for a wander through the quiet streets with their pretty thatched cottages, perhaps stopping off at the pub for lunch. You can step out into the countryside and embark on long walks or bike rides right from your front door. Cambridge is also less than three miles away with plenty to explore, from its famous colleges to renowned art galleries and stunning architecture. Just a little bit further, you’ll find Newmarket, the birthplace of thoroughbred horseracing. Enjoy a day out at the races or visit the National Horseracing Museum.
