Tucked away on the grounds of a 17th century Suffolk estate, this former mill sits beside a natural pond and offers the perfect couple's retreat.
On the outskirts of the picturesque village of Belchamp Water sits Belchamp Hall Mill. This charming renovation lies at the finish of a dead-end track on the grounds of Belchamp Hall - a beautiful period house which has been home to the Raymond family since 1611. This unique property benefits from an incomparable locale, offering guests unrivalled peace and quiet. Here, you're invited to soak up the soothing sounds of nature as you enjoy the adjacent wild ponds and surrounding ancient woodland. Other features include a cosy log burner, a relaxing reading nook, outdoor seating, and access to the beautifully kept grounds of Belchamp Hall. Dog-friendly and fully equipped, this promises to be the perfect couple's getaway for those seeking to leave the noise of the city behind.
Several features throughout the house add to the unique character of The Mill. This includes a mix of original, reclaimed, and antique wood, timber beams, exposed brickwork, and vaulted ceilings. Comprised of two floors, The Mill is an upside-down house. The ground level contains the master bedroom and the bathroom. The bedroom has a super king size bed and benefits from a stable door leading out to the adjacent wild pond, while the bathroom has a walk-in power shower. Underneath the stairwell is Poet's Corner, a contemplative reading and writing nook. Ascend the solid oak staircase to reach the open-planned living area. The kitchen comes well-equipped, and the sitting area boasts a comfy sofa, 32" smart TV, a log burner, and a charming Juliet balcony which overlooks the ponds. Outside, there is seating on both levels along with immediate access to the estate.
The area is replete with things to see and do. Locally, there are numerous walking trails and Dedham Vale - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - is just a short drive away. Suffolk is home to many picturesque towns and villages too, so you won't want for local pubs and restaurants to visit. If you are looking for a slice of urban life, the historic market town of Colchester is a 30 minute drive away. A little further to the east is Ipswich, the county town of Sussex, known for its shopping, historic town square, and much-lauded marina.
