Nestled in a secluded corner of a field on a small family farm in the heart of East Anglia, this shepherd’s hut is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The bespoke hut was designed and built on the farm and perfectly complements its rural surroundings. The hut is also completely off-grid so as to have minimal impact on the environment and to help you unwind.
The luxurious bespoke interior features all the home comforts you could need. It has been designed to balance a charming rustic style with comfort and practicality. At one end, you’ll find a cosy double bed in a purpose-built nook with reading lights and plenty of storage below and at the other, an ensuite bathroom. There’s a shower and a compost toilet in the bathroom and the kitchen is equipped with a fridge and a gas hob for simple meals. There’s also a gas barbecue and a seating area outside. The hut is solar powered and you’ll find USB ports for charging your devices.
Enjoy a morning coffee in bed while taking in the beautiful view across the fields and countryside. Or watch the sunset outside with a glass of wine and see if you can spot any of the local wildlife. A wood-burner and plenty of logs, along with some extra blankets will keep you cosy in colder weather. There’s also a fire-pit outside for toasting marshmallows and keeping you warm while you do a bit of stargazing in the evenings.
The farm is located in the countryside of North Essex, the perfect base for discovering the best of East Anglia. The farm itself is on the public footpath network, so it couldn’t be easier to explore the surrounding countryside. It’s only a fifteen-minute walk to the nearest village, picturesque Castle Hedingham, where there are a number of delightful pubs and restaurants, a village shop and a beautiful Norman castle. On a sunny summer’s day, you can spend a relaxing afternoon on the River Stour, where rowboats are available to travel between Dedham and Flatford Mill. Or, you could go a little further afield and make a day of it exploring Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds or Chelmsford.
