Baxter’s Barn is the perfect place for groups of up to six to escape the hustle of modern life and recharge in converted 19th century cow sheds. Luxury styling and modern creature comforts combine with rustic charm and cosy decor to create an inviting bolthole in the heart of the Suffolk countryside.
As you walk into the open-plan kitchen living and dining area, you’re immediately wowed by the original wooden beams and exposed red brickwork that’s as cosy as it is quaint. The vaulted ceilings give a huge sense of space, while the neutral decor and soft lighting urge you to relax and slow down.
The U-shaped, fully-fitted kitchen with breakfast bar is the perfect place to unwind after a long day and cook up a feast. In the mornings the Dolce Gusto coffee machine fills the air with an inviting aroma, while the smell of breakfast being cooked on the large cooker is sure to wake any late-risers from their slumber.
On sunny days, open the bi-fold doors and enjoy alfresco dining in your own enclosed garden. Alternatively, spend time in your second, larger private garden with twin terraces for catching the sun, as well as a gas BBQ and tables and chairs for six. It’s the perfect spot for spending those long summer evenings outdoors as the sun sets. For those cooler evenings, curl up under a blanket on the plush sofas with some popcorn and a film on the large smart TV.
As the night draws in, head to one of the two king size bedrooms after tucking the kids into their own twin beds. Bedroom one boasts an ensuite with a walk-in shower, while the family bathroom offers a deep tub to sink into after a long day. Thick, luxurious robes and bath towels are like a warm hug and prepare you to settle down under plush, warm bedding. Those lucky enough to bed down in bedroom three can open their patio door and awake to the sound of the dawn chorus as the morning sun fills the room.
As your cosy bolthole in rural Suffolk, Baxter’s Barn is enough alone to relax and recuperate. However, Suffolk and Norfolk boast a whole host of activities and attractions to suit everyone. Nature lovers have miles of idyllic countryside to explore on foot or by bike, with Thornham Walks a few miles away, or Thetford Forest or the Norfolk Broads a little further afield.
The nearby towns of Bury St Edmunds, Framlingham, Aldeburgh and Southwold all offer winding streets to wander, independent shops to peruse, and pubs, cafes and restaurants to rest heavy legs in. For those that fancy something within walking distance, the Oaksmere pub offers fine food and quality drinks.
