Groups of up to 12 guests can enjoy a fabulous stay in this beautifully-preserved 16th century barn. This former agricultural building has a distinctive decor that offers rustic, rural charm through exposed beams, roaring fireplaces and whitewashed walls. Yet modern, comfy furnishings and appliances ensure you and your loved ones have all the comforts of home throughout your stay.

After a day out exploring the marvellous Suffolk countryside, you can retire back to the comfort of Whistlecraft Barn for an evening relaxing in style. Gather in the spacious lounge which has two sets of bi-fold doors that open up onto the terrace and gardens. In summer, slide these open to let the fresh country air in and if you’re visiting in winter you can stay cosy in front of the fireplace whilst enjoying a movie night on the TV beneath the original full-height beams of the barn.

The big open plan kitchen has a large island that makes meal prep a breeze and is also a lovely spot to sit with a glass of wine as you keep the designated chef company. The kitchen itself is nicely equipped, and has an American style fridge freezer, a Rangemaster cooker, an integrated dishwasher and plenty of storage space. And when dinner’s ready, enjoy it in the cosy dining room, which is separated from the main seating area with a dual-sided wood burner. Or, if the weather’s nice, dine alfresco in the garden on the big outdoor dining table.

After dinner why not enjoy a game of pool in the games room, relax in the cosy library or get comfy on the huge sofas in the lounge before heading off to bed?

The six ensuite bedrooms all feature distinctive decor and super-comfy beds that guarantee a restful night’s sleep. Two of the bedrooms sit on the ground floor with no steps leading to them, making them ideal for people with mobility issues. One of the bathrooms features an elegant free-standing bath tub that offers garden views. This is the ideal place to enjoy an indulgent soak away from the others after a day exploring Surrey.

Stepping outside, the barn has a private, enclosed landscaped garden with a pretty lawn where you can relax in the summer sunshine. There’s also a separate courtyard garden and a BBQ area.

When it comes to filling your days, you’ll be more than comfortable lounging at the barn all day in peace. However, if you did want to venture out, you’ve got all of Suffolk right on your doorstep. You’re also just a short hop from Thornham Walks, a 12 mile stretch of glorious walkways, perfect for losing yourself in nature. This is also part of the historic 2,000-acre Thornham Estate, which lies in the beautiful River Dove valley. You can also head out in the car and visit the fab towns of Framlingham and Bury St Edmunds or the beautiful seaside town of Aldeburgh which sits on the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
