This former-Inn, just a few miles from the stunning North Norfolk coast, has been welcoming guests for over 100 years but more recently has been renovated to offer guests a luxurious and relaxing self-catering stay. Step through the double doors and into this immaculate period property. A neutral colour scheme throughout maximises the light and space in this welcoming home. The bright hallway has a reception area where guests can sit on velvet armchairs to wait for straddlers, or remove muddy shoes from country walks.
Into the kitchen, and this grand space is wonderfully equipped with large solid wooden counter tops and a good sized breakfast bar where friends can perch on stools, pour wine, chat and help with the meal prep. A traditional farmhouse table, with plenty of seating, stands beside a herringbone-tiled Inglenook fireplace which houses a wood burner for keeping diners cosy during suppers which stretch late into the night.
And, when it's time to put up feet and relax, the living area is filled with comfy sofas, another wood burner and a large flat screen, wall-mounted television. Gather the family and enjoy time together, watching movies, playing board games or simply catching up over a drink. For those desiring a little private time, head into the conservatory and watch the birds land on the lawn from this sunny room.
Head outside to the wonderful walled garden which has a babbling brook running through it. This large, lawned space is big enough for a few friendly games of rounders and has a lovely decked area, by the water, where guests can relax in the sunshine on the comfy outdoor furniture.
While-away hours in the wood fired hot tub, enjoying a glass of fizz watching friends and family play. Fairy lights and uplighting create a magical atmosphere on summer evenings when guests can fire up the barbecue and enjoy al fresco eating at the large outdoor dining table.
This beautiful house has six large bedrooms, all double and all ensuite, with exceptionally comfortable mattresses, high thread count linens and feather and down duvets.
There is plenty to do just yards from Old Chequers including a play park, The Ostrich Inn gastro pub and lawn tennis. Further afield, Wells-next-the-Sea is a wonderful traditional seaside town with lots of lovely independent shops and cafes. Pack a picnic and spend the day relaxing on the beach.

Low season runs from mid January to May, with the exception of February and April school holiday periods. High season follows from June to mid September. Low season continues from mid September to mid December, with the exception of the October holiday period, and the festive period from December to mid January is our peak season. Our pricing follows this pattern, with low season periods being priced closer to the lower end of our price spectrum, and high season nights priced closer to the peak season rate of £1200 per night.
