There are few things more grounding or therapeutic than getting in touch with nature. As seen in George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, the Ursabear Cabin on the edge of Exmoor National Park, Devon is the perfect place to do just that. Located on an idyllic, peaceful slice of wooded land, Ursabear is a hand-built wood cabin that sleeps two. Spend your days on epic walks in the local Exmoor National Park and stargaze the nights away from the comfort of your very own deck – Ursabear provides both elegant luxury accommodation with all the creature comforts and amenities you could dream of, as well as being an excellent hub from which to explore the stunning local Devon landscapes.
Ursabear takes all of the coziness you’d expect from a Scandinavian wood cabin and elevates it to new, luxury heights. The cabin sleeps two, with an opulent king size bed on the bedroom mezzanine available for guests. There’s no need for you to set an alarm, either; the bed is tucked away under a large, inviting skylight, meaning you can wake up to stunning, vivid sunrises each morning.
Moving downstairs, the kitchen in Ursabear is incredibly inviting and warm, thanks to its gentle lighting and woodland-view windows. It doesn’t just look great, though; the cabin is stocked with an induction hob, fridge, ice box and microwave to ensure you have plenty of flexibility in terms of both cooking and food storage for the duration of your stay. The outdoor kitchen area (which can be accessed by the secret slide!) also boasts a gas pizza oven, which makes for a wonderful way to enjoy a romantic, homecooked meal on the deck while you immerse yourself in the tranquility of the evening.
The wetroom is home to a luxury copper rain shower and flushing toilet. However, if you’d rather make the most of Ursabear’s gorgeous woodland views, the sunken bath, with its waterfall tap, on the deck is the perfect way to do just that - simply turn the lever and the water pours from the waterfall to fill the tub. Savour the crisp Devon air and the sounds of the local woods while you relax and wash away the stresses of the day.
Ursabear happens to be placed in one of the most interesting and historic parts of Devon. If you’d like to explore any of the nearby villages, Dunster is well worth your consideration. As perhaps one of the best-preserved medieval villages in all of England, Dunster’s Yarn Market and Castle serve as incredible snapshots of English life during a very different era.
However, if you’d prefer to spend your time in Devon exploring its beautiful landscapes, then Ursabear is just a stone's throw away from the stunning Exmoor National Park, one of the UK’s most important and iconic natural reserves, as well as being one of the country's few Dark Sky Reserves. Cross the Tarr Steps and enjoy views of the iconic moorlands from one of the park's water-powered railways, or perhaps from a canoe or horseback? With hundreds of walks to choose from and jaw-dropping scenes around every corner, Exmoor is a true natural wonder that is not to be missed.
Minimum stay 2 nights midweek and 3 nights minimum on Friday check ins.

Me and my boyfriend had the most magical cosy stay at Ursabear! Every where you look there is such beautiful attention to detail. The bear theme is funny and a great touch. Val is an artist putting this together the way she has. The place is so peaceful and relaxing. Val was incredibly friendly and helpful whenever we had a question. The bath was the best! We had such great weather laying on the sun loungers letting time pass slowly which is rare! The sky was so dark at nighttime and the stars looked beautiful. Lovely walks nearby. Comfy bed and everything well equipped - there is literally nothing to fault! Both me and my partner will never forget our stay and look forward to staying in Yggdrasil Treehouse next. Thank you so so much! AMAZING!!!!!!!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic and peaceful time away. The attention to detail was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the cabin. The outside area was where we spent the majority of time, either sitting at the bar like area whilst the rain came down around us but fully protected from it or submerged in the bath with a glass of bubbly. Thanks Val for sharing your wonderful hidden hideaway!
