Tucked away at the bottom of an ancient and wild garden the Bird Box is a wonderful romantic little hideaway perfect for couples seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
This compact and self-contained little haven has a rustic charm that will make you feel part of the surrounding woodland and nature. A cosy veranda provides a perfect spot to settle in for a drink and soak up the view of the trees bedecked in candle effect lights as birds sing their song all around.
Inside you'll find a wonderful fully fitted little kitchen and a chunky wooden table and benches where you can get cosy by the coal effect fire and play cards, drink wine and prepare a delicious feast.
A chunky log staircase takes you up to the lovely and very romantic bedroom where light floods in through the French slatted window as you lounge on the carved king size, four poster bed. Get cosy beneath the fluffy duvet and rearrange the fur throws to suit you before sinking into a peaceful night's slumber.
You'll wake to the sun filtering through and warming your face. Maybe head down and grab a pot of tea to enjoy in bed before you head through to your fabulous ensuite where you can enjoy a hot blast of water from the tin shower before starting your day.
Enjoy breakfast on the veranda as you make your plans. You might like to stay in and around the Bird Box but if you do want to venture out there's much to see and do. Take a short stroll into Okehampton and explore the independent shops and maybe stop off at the farm shop for some tasty goodies. Dartmoor is close by if you want a windswept walk in the wild, or you can hop on a bus to Bude and have a day on one of its golden sandy beaches. Nearby Old Meldon Quarry is a beautiful place for wild swimming and afterwards you can reward yourself with a cream tea at The Railway Cafe or head to The Duke of York for a pint by the roaring fire.
Head back to to your hideaway and spend the afternoon bobbing around in the cedar hot tub beneath the old oak tree, or book in a massage to come to you! In the evening the trees will light up and you can enjoy some champagne on the veranda with the stars for company. The host has many wonderful suggestions for things to do in the area and you'll find there are plenty of great pubs, outdoor activities and places of interest to visit.
