Set in the heart of Leworthy Manor’s farm and within its own private grounds, Herdsman’s Hideaway is the perfect spot to slow down the pace and relax amidst beautiful countryside surroundings. Head down the private track, via pastures where cattle graze, and you’ll find the hut overlooking the lake. Sit out on the deck, or in the hot tub, to watch some of the local wildlife such as cuckoos and kingfishers. You can even sit up in bed and enjoy the sunrise over the lake through the french doors with your morning coffee.
Herdsman’s Hideaway is a unique hut, built on an old articulated lorry. This means that the interior is surprisingly spacious and airy with plenty of room for everything you could need and a few extra luxuries, including a roll-top bathtub. The interior has been beautifully decorated in relaxing tones of green with feature wallpaper behind the double bed, helping the space feel attuned to the natural surroundings.
The living and kitchen space has a clean, modern feel to it with a range of basic appliances and utensils and a breakfast bar. There’s also a comfy sofa next to the wood-burning stove where you can put your feet up and get stuck into a good book for a cosy evening in. The bedroom features a luxurious double bed, made up with Egyptian cotton sheets and perfectly positioned in front of the double doors, offering beautiful views. There’s also a full-size bathroom with a roll-top bathtub and a shower for added luxury. You’ll even find fluffy towels, robes and slippers waiting for you.
Step outside to your private deck overlooking the lake. There’s a two-tier deck where you can soak up the sun in the deck chairs or sit back and relax in the wood-fired hot tub. In the evenings, get the firepit going and sit out late into the night stargazing while you toast some marshmallows.
If you can tear yourself away from your cosy hideaway, Leworthy Manor is perfectly located for exploring some of Devon’s best bits. Head to the coast and you’ll find there are plenty of great beaches within half an hour of the cabin, including Widemouth Bay and Summerleaze Beach. There are also lots of pretty seaside towns and villages along the north coast of Devon and Cornwall to explore, including the picturesque cobbled streets of Clovelly and the vibrant town of Bude.

Leave a reviewI forgot really to review this beautiful spot. Not very difficult to find, been in touch with the owner and info was provided, the place is beautiful, we have found the hot tube with hot water in it, very quiet, lots of birds in the mornings and cows around you at night. If you like this sort of relaxing, just go for it. Is amassing! I even bought a pan similar with the one to be used in the kitchen.

Me and my partner stayed for two nights. Host Henry we very warm and welcoming on arrival. The Hut was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed to be alongside nature and have home comforts at the same time. We made friends with an affectionate cat who came to visit us on occasion. Despite it raining on our full day at the hut we still enjoyed this scenic location, relaxing and watching the world go by. Would recommend this location and would love to come back and visit! Thank you for your hospitality

Stayed here for a few nights as we needed a little escape from everything. Amazing location, and even more amazing hospitality. Enjoyed the hut so much probably spent most of our time in the tub or on the deck watching the wildlife. Would definitely recommend and would love to go again and explore more of the countryside
