The Nutshell is a perfect little escape with a charming and rustic interior surrounded by pretty views in a secluded part of an ancient garden. It would be a delightful getaway for couples or lone travellers seeking a tranquil place to unwind.
Tucked away on an outcrop up among the tree canopy, with a view down to the town, this lovely cabin will make you feel relaxed from the moment you arrive. Open the welcome bottle of wine, sit out on the bijou balcony and enjoy the peace and the view.
The interior is a collection of cosy nooks. Snuggle up on the faux fur throws by the electric fire with a good book and enjoy the décor which is rustic, welcoming and very inviting.
There's a small wooden kitchen with pretty pots and plants dotted about and everything you could need to cook a meal for two to enjoy on the balcony as the stars come out.
The bedroom has a white iron frame double bed where you can settle in for the night beneath warm soft bedding and doze off with the view of the tree tops through the window opposite. Everything about this cabin has been designed for complete cosy bliss.
In the morning freshen up in the shower room and take your first coffee out on the balcony. You might like to start the day in lazy fashion and sink into the hot tub on the decking which is blissful, particularly on a drizzly morning! Or you might prefer to have a soak late at night surrounded by the quiet of the garden. The tub is ready to use and available 24 hours a day so just remove the lid and enjoy.
If you prefer to stay in your little Nutshell but fancy some pampering you can book a masseuse to come to you for an hour long massage, a perfect way to unwind.
If you'd like to explore the town, Okehampton is a short eight-minute stroll along a tree-lined path and through the park. The town has some lovely independent shops, restaurants and farm shops. There's also a museum and a cinema if you fancy a movie night with some popcorn. If you fancy a pint The Highwayman Inn is just three miles away and offers plenty of its own cosy nooks and crannies in the Hideaway Bar where you can enjoy a few drinks. For a great meal the 15th century Duke of York Inn serves fresh food by a roaring fire.
There are plenty of gorgeous local walks from the cabin through woodland, meadows and along the riverside. And of course Dartmoor is close by for wonderful days out exploring. If you are wanting the beach you can hop on a bus to Bude where you'll find plenty of golden sand and sea to enjoy. And your host can recommend an excellent local wild swimming spot! A bit of everything in gorgeous Devon.
