A proud and luxurious gatehouse conversion guarding the Glen Tanar Estate and nestled within the bewitching Scots Pine of Aberdeenshire
This wonderful gatehouse conversion is idyllically set on the banks of the River Tanar and offers the discerning traveller a rare opportunity to indulge in luxury self-catering accommodation in a unique property dating back to the height of the Victorian era.
Towe O’Ess is an historic listed building dating back to the 1870s. It was originally built as an imposing gateway to the glen, but was reimagined as a fully operational gatehouse by 1918. The tower is a luxurious romantic hideaway, complete with an outdoor hot tub, double-ended slipper roll-top bath and a luxurious super king bed.
The intimate living room contains a wood burning stove with access to unlimited logs, a large television, Wi-Fi and a variety of games and books. The perfect accompaniments to while away the evenings with your loved one. The spiral staircase elevates you to the bedroom and bathroom with a walk in shower and luxurious toiletries and bathrobes provided as standard. From here you can access the glorious rooftop where you can survey the land just like noblemen from the past. Enjoy the serenity and tranquility of the woods that surround you and listen out for the babbling Water of Tanar below, a peaceful way to start your day before you head out into the glorious landscape, or it is the ideal place to enjoy drinks whilst gazing at the starriest of night skies.
The kitchen comes fully equipped and is the perfect space to cook up a romantic feast alongside a dishwasher and a washer/dryer for your convenience. There's also a luxurious hot tub situated in the garden along with decking and outdoor furniture, perhaps the perfect place to complete your day after your adventures in the surrounding countryside.
The Glen Tanar Estate is a joy to behold - stretching across 25,000 acres of Caledonian pine forests, heather-clad hills and fertile farmland, the estate is situated in Royal Deeside. Home to Scotland’s most easterly Munro, Mount Keen, as well as the tumbling Water of Tanar and the River Dee, Glen Tanar is in the east of the Cairngorms National Park and includes a large National Nature Reserve. Wander through purple-clad hills and towering ancient pines, breathe in the scent of pinecones and sap, hear the soft crunch of footstep on trail, and the gurgle of the Tanar, as you make for Mount Keen.
Sporting activities on offer include salmon fishing, deer stalking, grouse shooting and trout fishing - please contact the estate prior to arrival to ensure availability. Why not partake in some wildlife photography and snap the rare golden eagle or red squirrel in their natural habitat? The estate offers sessions capturing some of the amazing wildlife and you can view this from one of the many hides located across the estate. Whatever the occasion this romantic highland retreat is quite simply sheer bliss and is set to take your breath away.
