An eco-friendly stay, Tiny House is designed to have a minimal impact on the environment. Nestled in the quaint village of Balquhidder in rural Perthshire, this family-run property is perfect for a peaceful couples’ retreat in a wonderful, romantic setting. Hosting a wood burner and an outdoor deck complete with a cosy firepit, this charming home guarantees warmth and relaxation all year round.
With a cosy double bed, wood burner, kitchenette and gas cooker and a full bathroom with a shower, Tiny House is small but mighty, packed with everything necessary to unwind and switch off from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Inside, the compact kitchen and living area are centred around a natural colour palette, with forest green cushions and warm yellow furnishings evoking a countryside vibe. The kitchen cabinets are newly refurbished, with a dark wooden feel, decadent gold handles and plush marble surfaces perfect for cooking a warming evening meal.
If you don't fancy cooking then be sure to visit the incredible on-site restaurant Monachyle Mhor. This is a renowned restaurant that offers exceptional, refined Scottish food, sourced mainly from the farm, or nearby. This is a truly special place to enjoy meals during your stay, and the exec head chef, Marysia Paszkowska, has been at the restaurant since 2010! The venison comes from the surrounding hills, and the vegetables, fruit and herbs all come from the kitchen garden of are foraged in all sorts of secret spots. The restaurant also has sweet and succulent Scottish seafood on offer!
A charming wooden staircase leads up to the sleeping area, furnished with a double bed and fresh, crisp sheets. Outside, the decking area - accessible via the glass door - is finished with a gorgeous wooden sofa, coffee table and chair, apt for enjoying a romantic evening beside the warming fire pit. Enveloped by the green treetops, it’s truly immersed in nature and is the perfect place to unwind in style.
Surrounded by five lochs and the gorgeously dramatic mountains of Balquhidder, Tiny House Mhor is immersed in nature. Get out amidst the flora and fauna with a bike rental and adventure up Cycle Route 7, or try your hand at game, deerstalking or fishing on Loch Voil, Doine, the River Forth or the River Teith.
Wander down to the affiliated Mhor Bread, a bakery and shop offering freshly made sourdough, giant meringues, pies and patisserie for the most delicious of picnics, or purchase a local tipple at the Scottish Real Ale Shop.
The owners of Tiny House organise a number of community-oriented events each year, including the Mhor Festival, a food-loving party weekend, a Burns Night celebration, and the Run Mhor Trilogy comprising a 10k, half-marathon and a marathon. Take your pick!
