Set on the outskirts of a family run farm, in one of Britain's largest National Parks, you will find The Bothy. This wonderfully secluded cabin is the perfect couples' retreat, ideal for those wishing to leave the modern world behind and get back in touch with the peace and serenity that nature has to offer. With its sprawling hillside views, delightful rustic charm, and cosy atmosphere, guests will be sure to fall in love with this tranquil delight. Living off the grid has never been so comfortable!
This open plan cabin has been assembled by expert craftsmen using the finest timber. The property has been laid out to ensure maximum comfort, complete with a sitting area, and a dining area with table for two. In the kitchen area you'll prepare your food in the wood fired stove oven or on the double electric hob. The stove also provides heating for The Bothy, making your stay a super cosy one. The king size double bedroom situated on the mezzanine is accessible by ladder. Lush bed linens are included in your stay. The cabin has an eco-toilet and a power shower in separate rooms. There is also a sofa bed downstairs in front of the fireplace, which is ideal for guests with limited mobility and means the cabin can sleep a third guest if required.
Outside the Bothy is a newly installed Scandinavian-style Hikki wood-fired hot tub, where you can enjoy a steamy outdoor soak with nothing but miles of sweeping country views for company. The dark skies in this part of Scotland are truly magical due to a real lack of light pollution. That means that you can spend hours in the hot tub, long into the night, gazing up at the beautiful stars above.
The Bothy is set in Nether Glenny, a family run farm with a focus on cattle raising. Indeed, your nearest neighbours will be some of the farm’s Highland cows (separated by a fence of course). Guests can book a Nether Glenny Farm Tour where Matthew will take you on a 4x4 off-road trip around the estate to soak up the most magnificent views, meet and greet all the friendly farm animals as well as visiting the sites of Neolithic rock carvings and our Agroforestry project.
Hiking is also in abundance from The Bothy; just open your front or back door and head into the Menteith Hills and look out for wildlife such as red deer, roe deer, red squirrels, osprey in Summer and even black grouse performing the lek during the breeding season.
The fabulous location makes it the ideal spot for exploring the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the fourth largest national park on the British Isles. Known for its many lochs, mountains and stunning scenery, the park is a nature lover’s dream, ideal for long, romantic walks. If you'd like to get back in touch with civilisation, then the historic village of Aberfoyle is about four miles from the farm. Less than 20 miles to the west of the farm you will find Stirling, a medieval city steeped in history, and one that used to be the capital of Scotland. Attractions include the central old town, the magnificent Stirling Castle and the nearby Wallace Monument.
