This contemporary villa is set on the ground floor of an Edwardian house in Aviemore in the north of the Cairngorms National Park. While it’s just a five minute stroll into the bustling town centre, it’s located in a secluded spot, surrounded by trees and with pretty gardens and several sundecks. This makes it perfect for a peaceful escape while staying close to the action as Aviemore is renowned as a great base for outdoor activities and adventures. After a day spent walking, biking or even skiing, head back to your spacious villa to relax in the hot tub or put your feet up in front of the wood burner.
This lovely, traditional Edwardian house has been brought right up to date with the addition of a contemporary living room with floor-to-ceiling windows revealing views of the River Spey, the surrounding woodland and out to the mountains beyond. This room, with its enormous sofa and wood burning stove, is the perfect spot to snuggle up in the evenings with a glass of local whisky and a board game. Head down past the dining area and you’ll find access out to the lovely gardens with its hot tub and BBQ.
Next to the hot tub, sits a small conservatory which is a lovely spot to have breakfast with views of the garden. Through the conservatory, you’ll find the spacious double bedroom with its king size bed and log burner to keep you cosy in the winter. There’s also a dressing room with plenty of storage space beyond and an ensuite shower room with underfloor heating.
The large country-style kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need, including a dishwasher and a breakfast bar. Next to this, you’ll find a handy utility room with a washing machine and dryer, providing a bit of storage space for boots and coats when you come in from a long walk in the Cairngorms.
River House Garden Rooms is ideally located within Aviemore, just a few minutes’ walk from the shops so you can easily stock up on supplies, while still feeling quiet and secluded. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes to follow right from the front door and the house is located at the start of the Old Logging Way. This is an off-road cycling route that will take you through the trees and around several lochs with a cafe along the way. You’ll also be able to head up to Cairngorm Mountain on Scotland’s only funicular railway, where you’ll find snowsports in the winter and breathtaking views all year round.
