This wonderful beach house sits near a low-lying cliff-edge and a beach in a secluded spot surrounded by wild beauty but only a 15 minute walk, or a short cycle, from the bustling town of Southwold. This really is a wonderful getaway for a small family, friends or couples seeking sea air and a peaceful retreat.
The Watch Room is modern and light with huge floor-to-ceiling windows providing an ever-changing spectacle of dramatic sea and wonderful sunsets that make this place an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is spacious and stylishly decorated with two comfy sofas where you can relax and watch a movie on the widescreen TV with its Sonos speaker. The décor has an understated nautical theme with cushions sporting octopuses and seahorses and the gentle muted browns and blues reflect the landscape outside.
The kitchen is modern and cosy, fully equipped for a delicious meal, and there's even a Nespresso machine to ensure you get a good cup of coffee in the morning. A round dining table is perfectly placed to enjoy your feast and a bottle of wine with the view of the sea as your backdrop.
There are two bedrooms, both with those fabulous floor-to-ceiling windows where you can choose to burrow in with the view for company, or if you require a cave to sleep, the hosts have provided electric blinds for your comfort. Both rooms have big comfortable beds, one a king size, the other a super-king which can be made into twins if required.
Each room has its own ensuite, both with excellent showers and one with a bathtub, providing privacy and a pleasing lack of queues in the morning. There's a separate utility room at the end of the home where you can wash and dry your clothes and store anything beach related.
Wake in the morning to the sound of the sea and the skylarks singing, watch the fishing boats bob on the water, take a long indulgent shower and head through to the kitchen for a hearty breakfast. In the warmer months you might like to eat out on the decking as you make your plans for the day.
If your plans involve the word 'beach' then you're in heaven. A five-minute walk and you're there. It's practically private and perfect for a swim on a hot day or a long stroll when it's nippy. Or, of course, a cold water dip to set you up for the day!
You'll also be close to town where you can do some shopping. There's a lighthouse to visit, a pier to wander along and a beach where you can hunt for Southwold's hidden 'gem' – Amber! After all that sea air you might like to stroll along to The Lord Nelson pub where you'll find a cosy nautical-themed bar and what is rumoured to be the best fish and chips for miles around. At the end of the day you can head back to The Watch Room, fire up the BBQ and settle back with a drink to watch the sky change colour and the stars come out.

Leave a reviewWonderful location, enjoying a peaceful position by the sea. It is easy to walk to Southwold and to the private access to the beach. The Watch Room was ideal for four people, with excellent outdoor decking. Everything was there that we needed. There is a great deal to see in the area and yet it was lovely to sit so close to the sea and enjoy the surroundings and wildlife. We had the benefit of good weather to enjoy the outside and appreciate the wildlife.
